My first commonplace “notebook”

My commonplace notebook evolved into a portable system instead of one notebook. Does anyone else keep a “portable” commonplace system instead of one notebook? My brain couldn’t handle one commonplace notebook so I made this instead

I found that my brain couldn’t handle the constraint of a single notebook, so I created a portable system that allows me to carry multiple smaller notebooks or journals. This way, I can categorize my thoughts—whether it’s quotes, daily inspirations, brain dumps, or travel ideas—into dedicated spaces without feeling cluttered. This method mirrors what many people experience when trying to capture the full spectrum of their creativity. For example, the photo notes show sections like “BRAIN DUMP” and quotes such as “THIS IS WHERE ALL DREAMS BEGINNING,” which inspire personal reflection and growth. Having multiple notebooks makes it easier to access specific types of content quickly and encourages a habit of regular reviewing and updating. The portable approach also enhances flexibility. You can add or remove notebooks based on your current projects or interests, and it doesn’t feel like a heavy, fixed system. Plus, since each notebook has its unique focus, it reduces the mental friction of deciding where a note belongs. This method can increase motivation to journal or capture ideas more frequently. In my experience, the 'portable commonplace system' promotes better mental organization, creativity, and personal communication through writing. If you find a single notebook too restricting, consider breaking down your note-taking system into smaller, themed journals that travel with you. This might just be the key to unlocking more efficient and enjoyable creative processes.

I just have a common place journal but I am inspired by this. Thank you for sharing this! I think it’s a much better to stay a somewhat organized in the chaos, especially with my ADhD brain.
