Cozy, low stim shows for adults 📺🎬

1. New Girl, 2011-2018

⭐️7.8/10

– Loved this show. Laugh out loud funny for a number of series and then at the end of s5 to the start of s6 it started to become a lot more cliche and lot less funny. I persevered and I'm glad I did just to see it through but it is almost like Liz Merriweather realised at the end of s6 that the show was just treading water with no real purpose so they bashed out s7 to put it all to bed. It comes off rushed and again a shade cliche. I just wished they had progressed the main themes a bit quicker or at least consistently to avoid this stagnation then rush rush rush end. Would still recommend it, some of the most loveable/hilarious characters and I did on occasion lose a manly tear. Also I much preferred the original titles.

2. Friends, 1994-2004

– What can be said about Friends that hasn't already been said? It's easily one of the best sitcoms of all-time. It's on every "best sitcoms ever" list for a reason…because it is! If that doesn't convince you just read through these nevie weak in l see entire s wed this everyone can The someone ect, the show that they identify with. I've seen every episode numerous times (considering it's always on) and I still laugh just as much on every watch as I did the first time I watched it. I'll continue to watch reruns and laugh and I doubt that I'll ever get bored with this show.

3. Community, 2009-2015

⭐️8.5/10

– Community is one of the most underrated comedies of all-time. It's a comedy that takes place at Greendale Community College and follows the lives of its students, most adults looking to better their lives. I don't even k ow how to describe how much I love this incredible show! It's easily one of my all-time favorite comedies. All you have to do is read through the reviews to see how much everyone liked this show. You'll find it hard to find anyone who's actually watched the show who doesn't love it. It's one of the rare shows where the entire cast is hilarious and there's not a wink link among them. It stars Joel McHale, Gillian Jacobs, Alison Brie, Donald Glover, Danny Purdi, Chevy Chase & Ken Jeong. They all give outstanding performances here. I've probably seen the entire series 3 or 4 times through and still find it just as funny as I did the first time. This is a must watch!

4. Grace and Frankie, 2015-2022

⭐️8.2/10

– This is a brilliant and timely series. Sheen, Waterston, Fonda, and Tomlin. I'd guess nearly 200 years of combined acting experience. It shows. The writing in this series is witty and attentive to popular culture. It gently picks away at the nonsense in our contemporary lives and exposes the raw human condition. The only thing that eats at me a little is the upper-class white privilege that penetrates throughout. Despite this, the series makes some very real, critical, and timely social commentary. At the very moment that the Supreme Court of the United States debates gay marriage, we have Martin Sheen and Sam Waterston - two very straight and very accomplished actors - kissing on the screen.

5. Fresh Off the Boat, 2015-2020

⭐️7.8/10

– "Fresh Off the Boat" is a show about a Taiwanese-American family who has moved from Washington, DC (where there are lots of Taiwanese- Americans) to Orlando, Florida (where there are none!). While this sounds a bit like

"Fresh Prince of Bel Air" or the like, the show still is surprisingly original and worth seeing. There are several things I really appreciate about it: it DOES talk about race and stereotypes (something very rare on TV today) and writing is so good. The characters, as a result, are very likable. Overall, there's very little not to like about this one and I see it as actually being a lot like the wonderful show, "Brooklyn Bridge"--but with a greater emphasis on humor. Well worth seeing--whether you are Asian or not.
