... Read moreHey fellow parents! That original question about whether 1-2 or 2-3 kids was tougher really resonates with me. As someone who's navigated both, I can tell you it's like comparing apples and oranges – both challenging, but in completely different ways! When my first little one was born, it was a steep learning curve. Every cry felt like a crisis, and my entire world revolved around this tiny human. Then came the second. I remember thinking, 'How will I ever love another child as much?' But your heart just expands, doesn't it? The biggest adjustment for me going from one to two was the sheer division of attention. Suddenly, you're not just a mother with *a* child, but a mother trying to juggle two distinct personalities and needs. The 'foreground' of your daily life is no longer singularly focused; it's a dynamic scene with multiple players. I found myself having to consciously carve out one-on-one time for my eldest, so they didn't feel completely displaced. Nap times became sacred for catching up on chores, not resting! And forget about quiet outings; every trip felt like a military operation. Then, we decided to go for number three. Oh, the jump from two to three! If 1-2 was about dividing, 2-3 felt like multiplying the chaos! What I wished I knew before having my third was how much more independent my older two still needed to be, even if they seemed big. It's not just adding another person; it's changing the entire family dynamic from a 'man-to-man' defense to a 'zone' defense, if that makes sense. You learn to let go of perfection. Laundry piles up, meals get simpler, and sometimes, you just have to embrace the beautiful mess. The biggest shift in my parenting style became radical prioritization and delegation (even if it's just asking my partner to handle bedtime for all of them sometimes!). You realize quickly that you can't be everything to everyone all the time, and that's okay. Building resilience in your older children, encouraging them to help, and fostering their sibling bonds becomes paramount. Do I miss anything about only having one child? Absolutely, sometimes! I miss the spontaneous trips, the quiet cuddles, and the feeling of having enough hands for everything. There's a simplicity to it that vanishes with more children. But then I look at my three, interacting, laughing (and sometimes bickering!), and my heart swells with a different kind of joy. The richness they bring, the lessons they teach each other, and the incredible bond they share is something truly special. It's a trade-off, isn't it? Less 'me' time, more love and laughter. For anyone considering adding another child, my advice is to understand that each transition brings its own unique set of challenges and joys. Don't compare your journey to others too much, and be kind to yourself. Your parenting style will evolve, just as your family does. Embrace the beautiful chaos, find your village, and remember that you're doing an amazing job, no matter how many little ones are looking up at you from the 'foreground' of your bustling family life!

I agree with most, having 0 to 1 is hard enough because almost everyone has been a first time mom and no one is actually ever prepared. We can say we are all we want (or at least I did) and I ended up feeling scared but I did it and still am! ( I’m so proud of all the moms in the comments!) ❤️
