tips for first time stardew players 🥹

stardew valley is very overwhelming, especially when you first begin! there’s so much to build and complete and so many friends to make 🥲

i would love to hear some of your tips for first time stardew players that don’t know where to start or even those afraid to start! 🥹

mine would be to pick one thing you want to work on like fishing for money and building relationship with townspeople so they can give you stuff 🤭🤭

share your tips in the comments!

... Read moreHey fellow Stardew Valley newbies! I totally get it – stepping into Pelican Town for the first time can feel like a *lot*. There are so many things to do, and it's easy to get overwhelmed. But trust me, that's part of the charm! I remember feeling lost, wondering if I was doing things 'right.' The beautiful thing about Stardew is there's no single 'right' way to play, especially if you're aiming for that relaxing, cozy gaming experience. My biggest tip, just like in the original post, is to pick one or two things to focus on each season. Don't try to master farming, mining, fishing, and socialising all at once. For Spring year one, I personally found fishing to be a fantastic way to earn early money. It takes a little practice to get the hang of the mini-game, but a few hours by the river can really boost your starting funds. Another great option is foraging – those wild plants and berries around town are free energy and cash! Speaking of money, don't overplant in your first Spring. Parsnips are cheap and quick, perfect for getting a little profit flow. As you earn, reinvest in more seeds, but also save up for some essential upgrades. Your watering can and pickaxe are probably your most used tools, so don't be afraid to upgrade them when you can, but don't rush it either. Time in Stardew Valley flies by! Each in-game hour is about 10 real-life seconds. Always keep an eye on the clock and your energy bar. You don't want to pass out at 2 AM and lose money or items! I learned that the hard way, hehe. A good habit is to plan your day: what crops to water, who to talk to, where to go foraging or fishing. Building relationships with the townspeople is another cozy and rewarding part of the game. Don't feel pressured to gift everyone daily, but learning a few universal likes (like sweet peas for many villagers in Spring) can go a long way. They'll send you recipes and gifts, which are super helpful. Plus, it just makes Pelican Town feel more alive! And don't forget to embrace the cozy vibe! Whether you're playing on your computer or enjoying the portability of your Nintendo Switch, take time to appreciate the pixel art, the changing seasons, and the relaxing soundtrack. Maybe even set up your own cozy gaming space with a plush frog like I saw in an image for inspiration! Stardew is a marathon, not a sprint. Don't stress too much about the Community Center bundles early on; they'll come naturally as you explore. Just enjoy discovering your farm and the valley at your own pace. Happy farming!

if you want to play with mods, i hiiiiiighly recommend stardew valley expanded and ridgeside village (i think that’s the name?). it adds so much more content to the game that fits with the vanilla game but they do require a lot of extra mods so only if your pc/laptop can handle it

once you start farming, keep at least 5 of each crop, especially high rated ones. they are useful for finishing the community center!
