Deep Freezer
when I was breast-feeding my children, I wanted my leftover pumped breastmilk to last for more than six months so I got this deep freezer and now that I am no longer using it for breastmilk. It is still to go to for extra frozen food and is keeping up with the task , I can’t imagine only our refrigerator freezer at this time!
So many of you have asked about my deep freezer, especially after seeing glimpses of it! I initially got my white chest deep freezer when I was breastfeeding, and it was a lifesaver for storing all that precious breastmilk, ensuring it lasted for months. Fast forward, and while those days are behind me, this freezer is still an absolute MVP in my kitchen (or rather, my storage area!). It’s truly amazing how it adapts to our family’s needs. Now, instead of breastmilk bags, its lid is often open, revealing a treasure trove of various frozen food items. Honestly, I can’t imagine managing without it now. Our regular refrigerator freezer just wouldn't cut it for our family's needs. This chest freezer allows us to buy in bulk, save money, and always have ingredients on hand for quick meals. One of the biggest game-changers for me has been learning how to properly organize it. When you have a chest freezer full of frozen food, it can quickly become a black hole if you’re not careful! My top tip for keeping the deep freezer interior manageable? Baskets! I use sturdy plastic baskets to create zones. One for meats, another for frozen fruits and vegetables, a dedicated section for packaged meals (think lasagna, casseroles, or homemade burritos), and another for bags of food like rice, pasta, or bread. This way, when the interior light comes on, I can easily see what I have without digging through everything. Another thing I prioritize is labeling everything. Even if it's just a Ziploc bag of garden vegetables, I write the item and the date on it. This helps prevent food waste and ensures we're rotating our stock. I also try to keep a running inventory list on the fridge – a simple magnetic notepad does the trick. It’s incredibly satisfying to look into a packed freezer and know exactly what’s there and how long it’s been stored. This extra frozen food storage solution has truly simplified my meal planning. On busy weeknights, pulling out a pre-made meal or quickly thawing some chicken saves so much time and stress. It's not just about storage; it's about peace of mind and smart budgeting. From big grocery hauls to preserving garden produce, my chest freezer makes it all possible. If you're on the fence about getting one, especially for buying in bulk or meal prepping, I wholeheartedly recommend it. It's an investment that pays off in convenience, savings, and a beautifully organized, fully stocked freezer!
