... Read moreHey fellow Tenno! Ever feel like those Corrupted Mods are just out of reach, or that farming for them takes forever? I totally get it! For the longest time, I struggled with making my Orokin Vault runs efficient. But after a lot of trial and error, I've finally cracked the code, and I'm so excited to share my "Speed Dragon" strategy with you. I even managed a personal best of 9 seconds on one run – it's totally achievable! What Exactly Are "Speed Dragon" Runs? For those who might be new, a "Speed Dragon" run in Warframe refers to quickly completing Orokin Vault missions, usually in the Cambion Drift (formerly Orokin Derelict), to farm Corrupted Mods. These mods are crucial for endgame builds as they offer powerful buffs with a corresponding debuff, making for some truly unique playstyles. To even access the vaults, you need to equip one of the four Dragon Keys (Bleeding, Decaying, Extinguished, Hobbled), which apply a negative status effect on your Warframe throughout the mission. The goal is to get in, find the vault, grab the mod, and get out as fast as possible! My Journey to the 9-Second Mark When I first started, my runs were clunky, and I'd often waste time clearing enemies or getting lost. I realized that to be truly fast, you need a combination of the right Warframe, a solid build, and a good understanding of the tilesets. My goal was always to hit that sweet spot of efficiency and speed, and that's where the "9s" came into play for me – symbolizing a perfect, lightning-fast execution. My Go-To Warframe & Build for Speed For solo speed runs, I personally swear by Volt. His Speed ability (2) is unmatched for traversing maps quickly. Here's a quick rundown of what I use: Warframe: Volt Prime (can use regular Volt too!) Aura Mod: Corrosive Projection (helpful for team play, but honestly, for solo speed, anything is fine as you're mostly avoiding combat) Exilus Mod: Cunning Drift (more parkour velocity!) Core Mods: Streamline, Fleeting Expertise (for max efficiency on Speed), Primed Flow (or Flow), Narrow Minded, Overextended (for ability range, crucial for finding the vault), Rush (sprint speed!), and often something for survivability if I'm feeling less confident, but for pure speed, I focus on mobility. Why this build? Maximizing ability duration and efficiency on Volt's Speed means I can zip through corridors without running out of energy. Overextended helps me quickly locate the vault door and its associated trigger mechanisms, saving precious seconds. Tips & Tricks for Your Own Speed Dragon Runs Know Your Tilesets: This is HUGE. After a few runs, you'll start recognizing common vault locations and routes. Practice makes perfect! Parkour is Key: Master bullet jumping and rolling. Don't just run; glide and dash through everything. Volt's Speed makes this even more satisfying. Ignore Enemies (Mostly): Unless they're directly blocking your path or a console, just zoom past them. Your objective is the vault, not enemy count. Companion Choice: I usually bring my Smeeta Kavat for potential resource boosters, but a Carrier Prime with Vacuum can help pick up everything without breaking your stride. Solo vs. Squad: For pure, unadulterated speed, I prefer solo. No waiting for teammates or worrying about different objectives. However, if you're looking for efficiency in terms of finding all four Dragon Keys, a squad where each person carries a different key is fantastic. Energy Management: Keep an eye on your energy. Energy Siphon or Zenurik's Energy Pulse can be lifesavers, especially with continuous use of Volt's Speed. Achieving that blistering fast time, or even just significantly cutting down your run times, feels incredibly rewarding. There's nothing quite like the rush of opening that vault and seeing a brand new Corrupted Mod drop. Keep practicing, adjust your builds, and soon you'll be hitting your own personal bests. Happy hunting, Tenno!
