Recovering from a stomach bug…🤒

On Tuesday I felt the worst I’ve felt for awhile. My son decided to share his stomach flu with me and it didn’t kick in until a week later…🫣🤣 I saw this image of a recovering Barbie somewhere on lemon8 and thought I’d create one of myself, just for fun. These stomach bugs are no fun picnic though and I’m still recovering, but this is a fun way to pass the time, right? lol 😂

... Read moreRecovering from a stomach bug can be one of the most taxing experiences, as it often involves a mix of nausea, cramps, and overall fatigue. From personal experience, sticking closely to a recovery plan that prioritizes rest and hydration makes a world of difference. For me, rehydrating consistently throughout the day — sipping water, electrolyte drinks, or gentle teas like apple ginger — helped keep the nausea manageable and supported my body’s healing processes. I found that incorporating soft, bland foods once I felt ready was essential. Things like toast, bananas, and rice avoid further irritation to the stomach. Alongside food, having a heating pad nearby to soothe abdominal cramps was a game changer; the warmth provided comfort without any meds. Beyond physical care, I realized emotional self-kindness is just as important. Encouraging myself with positive affirmations like “You got this” and allowing space for rest without guilt helped me maintain a gentle mindset. Cozy apparel — fuzzy socks, comfortable joggers, and soft hoodies — added to the feeling of comfort and care. Using small rituals, such as lighting a calming candle or wearing a sleep mask, also aided in creating an environment conducive to healing. These little acts helped reduce stress and improved sleep quality. Tracking my progress digitally with reminders to hydrate, rest, and take medicine as needed kept me accountable without feeling overwhelmed. Overall, my recovery from the stomach flu was non-linear, involving good days and tougher days. But having a flexible, caring routine made rest productive and healing achievable. If you’re going through something similar, remember that it’s okay to be gentle with yourself and to take all the time you need to get back to full health.
