“I wanna die with you”
stitched this pattern (“I Wanna Die With You” designed by threadpoetic on Etsy) in about a week to gift to my husband on our 5th wedding anniversary. These lyrics are from the song “Lonely Day” by System of a Down and though a bit morbid, I do not want to move through life without my partner. Later when framing the piece, I was a little stumped on how to create something that could be a surface to hang from. Then someone shared the rear thread art on IG and how to do it (sonovastitch has a great video on YT). It is one of my favorite pieces thus far.
Cross-stitching is a timeless craft that allows for personal expression and creativity, especially when incorporating meaningful lyrics or quotes like "I Wanna Die With You" from System of a Down’s "Lonely Day." This particular pattern, designed by threadpoetic and available on Etsy, offers a unique way to celebrate deep emotional bonds through art. Creating such a piece can take about a week, as the author shared, highlighting dedication and patience. When approaching cross-stitch projects inspired by powerful lyrics, it is important to choose fonts and styles that capture the song’s mood — in this case, conveying a bittersweet but profound message of love and companionship. An innovative aspect of this project is the framing technique. After completing the stitching, framing can be challenging, especially when trying to maintain the aesthetic without damaging the piece. The technique of using rear thread art, as shared by sonovastitch on YouTube, provides a professional and appealing way to display the work. This method can also add durability and make the piece ready for hanging. As a craft deeply connected with personal story, cross-stitching such patterns can also strengthen relationships and serve as a heartfelt gift for anniversaries or special occasions. Additionally, incorporating hashtags like #crossstitch, #soad, #xstitch, and #systemofadown helps connect with communities online, inspiring others and sharing creative ideas. Including meaningful song lyrics in cross-stitch not only elevates the artistic value but also creates a conversation piece that blends music, art, and personal sentiment. This intersection appeals to fans of the band as well as craft lovers, making the project both unique and memorable.
