As a social worker, versatility is key. Throughout my career, I've worked in various capacities that have enriched my expertise. For instance, serving as a Match Specialist with Big Brother Big Sister has enhanced my ability to connect with diverse individuals. Working as a Foster Care Social Worker in Alabama allowed me to develop crucial skills in advocacy and support for at-risk youths. My role as a Program Manager at Freedom House taught me effective management strategies in substance use recovery, while my position as an Eligibility Specialist with the Alabama Medicaid Agency provided insights into healthcare and policy. I also gained experience as a Geriatric Psychiatric Social Worker in a hospital, focusing on the mental health needs of older adults. My journey includes remote roles like being a Digital CBT Coach, which showcases how contemporary social work practice adapts to technological advancements. Each position has not only expanded my abilities but also significantly increased my earning potential compared to conventional paths in social work. Embracing job change can open doors, and it's vital to view every role as a stepping stone in your professional development.
