Hey y’all, good morning!
As we continue this JOURNEY TO THE CROSS during HOLY WEEK, today’s scripture hit me right in the heart:
“Jerusalem, Jerusalem, who kills the prophets and stones those who have been sent to her! How often I wanted to gather your children together, the way a hen gathers her chicks under her wings, and you were unwilling.” — Matthew 23:37 (NASB)
Whew… this verse shows the TENDERNESS of Jesus, but also His HEARTBREAK. He wasn’t angry here—He was GRIEVING. The very people He came to SAVE were REJECTING Him. That same pain He felt over Jerusalem? He STILL feels today when we reject Him with our choices✋🏾, our habits💭, or when we put Him on the back burner🔥.
Jesus LONGED to COVER and PROTECT His people like a mother hen, but they weren’t WILLING🚫. That should make us pause⏸️. Are WE willing? Are there parts of our lives where we’re telling Jesus “Not yet”⏳? Are we embracing His SACRIFICE✝️ or overlooking the COST💔?
This week, let’s really SLOW DOWN and THINK🧠 about the CROSS✝️. Let’s not rush⏩ to Resurrection Sunday without sitting with the pain that came before the VICTORY🏆.

And let’s remember—what we DESERVED was DEATH⚰️… but He gave us GRACE instead💖.

During Holy Week, it's essential to pause and reflect on the depth of Jesus’ sacrifice and love for humanity. The chosen scripture, Matthew 23:37, reveals a profound longing from Jesus to embrace us in His arms of mercy, evoking both tenderness and grief for those who resist His call. This reminder prompts us to examine our lives—are there areas where we say 'not yet' to His invitation? Engaging with the crucifixion story found in Matthew 26–27 and Isaiah 53 allows us to sit with the reality of our need for redemption. By doing so, we not only appreciate the grace freely given but also confront the cost of our choices and habits that may lead us away from a close relationship with Him. As we reflect, we can take time to pray and cultivate an attitude of openness to God's transformative mercy. Each day, let the essence of this journey encompass our hearts and minds, urging us to ponder deeply about what we are willing to surrender for love. May this week of reflection ignite a deeper relationship with Christ as we learn to embrace His grace, reminding ourselves that, despite deserving death, we receive life through His sacrifice.
