You Weren’t Created To Shrink!

✨A Light 💡in the Night🌙

Hey family 🤍🙏🏾

Tonight I want to talk about something many believers quietly struggle with. SHRINKING. Not because we lack confidence, but because we want others to feel COMFORTABLE, SAFE, or UNTHREATENED 😔✨.

Somewhere along the way, many of us learned that being a “good Christian” meant making sure everyone around us felt okay, even if that meant DULLING OUR LIGHT 🔦, HOLDING BACK OUR VOICE 🤐, or DOWNPLAYING OUR GIFTS 🎁. But that is not what God intended.

God never asked you to be smaller so someone else could feel bigger 🚫. He never asked you to hide who He intentionally created. Scripture says we are CALLED, SET APART, and made for His GLORY 🌟. When you shrink yourself to protect someone else’s comfort, you are hiding what God designed to reflect Him.

If you find yourself in a space where you feel pressure to DIM, QUIET, or STEP BACK so someone else doesn’t feel insecure, that is not love. That is not humility. And it is not of God. You can pray for that person 🙏🏾 and still choose to walk away 🚶🏾‍♀️🕊️.

God’s glory flows through obedience, not self-suppression. You are not here to manage other people’s insecurities. You are here to STAND, SHINE, and SERVE as the person God created you to be.

In my personal journey, I've often found myself dimming my presence, worrying about how others might feel around my success or faith. But embracing the truth from Matthew 5:16 and 1 Peter 2:9 has been transformative—realizing I’m called to be a light, not to hide it. The struggle to shrink can come from a misplaced desire to protect others, but true love and humility come from being authentic and bold. For example, I used to hold back my voice in group discussions, fearing I might intimidate or alienate others. However, by praying and seeking God's guidance, I learned that standing firm in my identity encourages others to embrace their uniqueness as well. Shining doesn’t mean overpowering; it means being genuine and courageous in living out your calling. When you hold back your gifts, it’s like covering a lamp with a bowl, preventing its purpose. Remember, God’s glory is revealed through obedience, not self-suppression. Pray for those who feel threatened by your light but don’t dim yourself to manage their insecurities. Instead, serve boldly, speak honestly, and walk confidently in your unique purpose. God made you to reflect His glory, and the world needs your full, unshrunken light to inspire and uplift others around you.
