I DROPPED MY BFF BECAUSE SHE WAS A HOMEWRECKER

~ Story submitted by a reader.

I dropped my bestie of 20 years, after knowing she became a homewrecker. She had self-esteem issues which she always contributed to her growing up days. She just ended an abusive same sex relationship and needed comfort, in which she sought in her married co-worker, whose wife is currently pregnant with their 2nd child.

Initially she also lied to me saying she found a boyfriend and I was genuinely happy for her that she got out of the abusive same sex relationship and found a man who could take care of her. She then introduced me to him and was really glad for them. It was only until a few months into their relationship that she told me he is actually married and his wife is actually overseas (he's Filipino). I was stunned.

I stayed as her friend to encourage her to break off this relationship and her being a mistress is totally wrong. It was only when she told me the sex with him was too good to let go, that I lost it.

Soon after the wife's family members who are working in Singapore knew of their relationship and came knocking on her door and started harassing her. She started having suicidal thoughts and separation anxiety from that man. I tried to stop her and provided comfort for her, while she slowly cut contact with him.

She then lied to me that she had cut off contact and still secretly looked for him when I'm not around or her family isn't eyeing her.

Hence, I told her our friendship cannot continue, different core values, and her total lack of accountability, lack of wanting to change for the better, and her total self pity.

... Read moreNavigating friendships when one friend becomes involved in an affair can be deeply challenging and painful. From my personal experience, it’s crucial to recognize that maintaining a friendship with someone whose actions violate your core values can lead to emotional distress and conflict. In situations like this, where your friend becomes a homewrecker, it’s important to assess whether continuing the friendship enables unhealthy behavior or threatens your own well-being. I have found that setting boundaries is necessary, even if it means ending a long-standing relationship. Friends who struggle with self-esteem issues may seek validation in damaging ways, such as pursuing unavailable partners. However, enduring support must come with encouragement toward accountability and positive change. When a friend repeatedly lies or hides their actions, it breaks trust and makes reconciliation difficult. I also learned that witnessing someone’s spiral into anxiety, depression, or suicidal thoughts due to their risky behaviors underscores the importance of tough love and intervention. Offering comfort is essential, but it cannot come at the expense of enabling destructive cycles or ignoring your own needs. Ultimately, the decision to drop my friend was heartbreaking but necessary. It reaffirmed the significance of loyalty to my own values and mental health. If you're facing a similar situation, remember that self-respect and honesty should shape your relationships. Supporting someone doesn’t mean condoning harmful behavior. For those dealing with complex emotions and betrayals within friendships, seeking guidance from trusted confidants or mental health professionals can help navigate the turmoil. Sharing your story or hearing others’ experiences can bring clarity and healing in difficult times.

Agreed! Time to cut off anything that it's taking up heaps of your time! We do not know how much time we have on earth. So make better use of your time. I cut off quite a few people that I thought I will drink kopi with them when we are in the sixties. But either they take advantage of my time, or they deemed they are more important than you, somehow after you dropped them, you found out that you have a lot of time on your hands. This precious time can be better spent with each of your family members. The only thing that takes a lot of my time are our hobbies. My shadow takes most of my time. yes! it is ME time. I also spend time with my other half, which frankly may not be enough. Time is going to run in the next 20 years. I am thinking how my family will remember me by when my children are all grown up and they have their goals to achieve.❤️

I have had similiar experience. My friend whom i considered my best fren and who understood me very well changed alot after her own marriage failed. I still stayed frens with her although I was not comfortable with her new friendship patterns. she tried to flirt with my partner while I was distracted with my most lowest point in life when I just lost my dad! it was heart breaking...losing 3 people in my life who I tout were the closest to me! then I cut her off without any explanation. the only thing im grateful for was that she came clean about it although I feel her intentions for coming clean was not to save me! but to see her friends marriage break too!
