When you dock at Aruba’s Oranjestad cruise port, there’s so much more waiting beyond just the nearby colorful streets. One of my favorite ways to experience Aruba was renting a Jeep right near the port to explore Arikok National Park. The park’s rugged terrain, natural pools, and unique rock formations are breathtaking and offer a really active way to enjoy Aruba’s natural beauty. If you prefer something more relaxed, taking the vintage-style open-air tram was a highlight for me. It travels between the port, downtown, and Renaissance Mall, making stops at popular shopping and dining spots. It’s fun, affordable, and a great way to get around without worrying about taxis. Be sure not to miss the local eats! I enjoyed small, authentic spots off the main streets where you can savor Aruban flavors away from the more tourist-heavy areas. For a quick beach getaway, Surfside Beach is within walking distance, and Eagle Beach is easily reachable by taxi or bus if you want to soak in Aruba’s iconic white sands and clear turquoise waters. For those looking for adventure, snorkeling trips to nearby shipwrecks and reefs are widely available and definitely worth booking in advance to avoid last-minute price hikes at the pier. And if you're feeling lucky or want to enjoy some evening entertainment, the casinos at Renaissance Mall and around town provide a lively nightlife scene. A few tips I found handy: always check taxi fares posted at info kiosks before you get in, carry some cash as small shops and buses sometimes don’t accept cards, and don’t forget sunscreen and water — Aruba’s sun is strong! No matter your pace or interests, Aruba’s cruise port puts you in the perfect spot to start your island adventure with plenty of options to suit every traveler’s style.
