The MTHFR Gene Mutation

... Read moreThe MTHFR gene mutation influences how the body processes folate, an essential vitamin, leading to potential health issues. This mutation can hinder the conversion of folic acid into L-methylfolate, the active form of folate, which can impact neurological health by affecting dopamine and serotonin levels. Individuals with this mutation may experience a higher risk of depression and anxiety due to imbalances in these neurotransmitters. To manage this condition, proper dietary supplements such as L-Methylfolate can help restore folate levels effectively. Incorporating such supplements into a wellness routine not only aids in improving mood but also supports overall health. It's crucial to consult with a healthcare provider for personalized recommendations, particularly for those on medication for mood disorders, to ensure the chosen supplements do not conflict with treatment plans. Emphasis on a balanced diet inclusive of natural sources of folate, like dark leafy greens, legumes, and fortified foods, can also complement these supplements. By understanding the implications of the MTHFR gene mutation and taking proactive steps, individuals can enhance their mental health and improve their quality of life.

I do and so does my 7 year old daughter. She takes a L-methylfolate gummy every night. I used to take my pill every morning but I’m not going to lie Im not consistent with it but it does seem to help my daughter with her ADHD that stems from her mutation.
