👉 What else should be on this checklist?
If you're visiting a dental clinic like Q&M Canberra for your braces appointment, you might want to know what to expect beyond just the checklist. From my experience, the clinic environment is equipped with advanced tools that can feel intimidating at first, especially the cold metal instruments and the noise of tightening machinery. To ease discomfort, bring a small jacket or sweater because the room can be chilly during the procedure. Managing pain after the appointment is crucial. I found it helpful to have some painkillers like Panadol at home ready to take if soreness hits later. Also, stocking up on soft foods such as porridge, yogurt, and thick creamy drinks before you go can save you from discomfort—you won’t be able to chew hard or crunchy foods immediately after getting your braces tightened. Don't forget to tie up long hair and bring essentials like lip balm and sunglasses to protect your lips and eyes from the dental lamp glare. Sunglasses also helped reduce my anxiety by dimming the bright clinic lights. Another practical tip is to record a quick video of your teeth before the appointment. This might seem unusual, but seeing progress over time can be motivating and rewarding. Finally, always carry portable food scissors with you when you go out after getting braces, especially if you plan to eat at buffets or have tough foods. It’s easier and more comfortable to cut food into smaller pieces than to struggle biting into big chunks. Overall, staying prepared with this checklist helped me handle the surprises and discomfort during my braces journey, and I hope sharing these tips gives you a smoother experience too!
