Should I delay my dream trip?

I finally saved enough to go on my dream solo trip to Japan. This has been on my vision board for YEARS. I already did the research, booked a flexible flight, even planned my routes and hotels. But now that my parents know I’m going alone, they’ve been so anxious. Not yelling or strict just the subtle “I don’t feel right” kind of guilt.

They’re scared because I’m a woman going solo. I get it. The world can be unsafe. But I also feel like if I wait for someone to come with me, I’ll never go. All my friends are either broke, busy, or just not interested in Japan.

Now I’m stuck between doing what I want and disappointing my parents. Has anyone else been through this? Do you go anyway and deal with the anxiety? Or do you wait and risk it never happening?

I don’t want to live my life on pause anymore, but I also don’t want to spend the whole trip feeling guilty.

Don’t put it off go! Japan is actually one of the safest places to solo travel as a female. Obviously still stay alert but you’ll be okay. And people in Japan are very helpful! My sister is going this summer and she’s extremely excited! Never wait on other people to complete your dreams, you’ll be waiting forever!

Don’t put it off. All it will do is make you resent your parents (even if it is not actively). Japan is a pretty safe country, and as a woman who has traveled alone just be smart. Just call them everyday or send them a text to let them know where you are and that you are safe. If you have an itinerary then give it to them. Have fun!
