Hey fellow art and Tokyo Revengers enthusiasts! I’m so thrilled to share a bit more about my process and inspiration behind my recent Chifuyu Matsuno fanart. When I first decided to draw Chifuyu, I knew I wanted to capture his cool yet approachable vibe, which is why I opted for a relaxed pose. He's such an iconic character, and getting his essence right is always a fun challenge! For this particular piece, I really leaned into using a simple mechanical pencil on white paper. There’s something incredibly satisfying about the texture and control you get with traditional tools. Starting with light construction lines, I focused on his overall posture first – that slightly tilted head and comfortable stance for his relaxed pose. Then, I moved onto his distinctive features. His hair, for example, has those sharp, defined layers, and his eyes always convey so much emotion. Capturing the slight curve of his brow and the subtle smirk was key to making him look "cool" and recognizable. One of the details I really enjoyed rendering was his bandages. They're such a signature part of his look, hinting at his role in the Tokyo Manji Gang without being overly dramatic in this particular drawing. I tried to give them a bit of texture, showing the wraps without distracting from his face. And of course, his outfit – the tank top and jeans – contributes to that laid-back, yet tough, aesthetic. It’s all about those small details that make the character feel alive on paper.
