don’t really need horror movies anymore tbh
Over time, I've realized that the thrill and fear from horror movies no longer hold the same appeal or impact they once did for me. Instead, my focus has shifted toward embracing a softer, more nurturing way of living—what some call the "soft life." This approach to life values calm, self-care, and emotional growth over external shocks or scares. My top 5 horror movies aren’t traditional films but rather thematic experiences reflecting inner struggles: "life before Jesus," "almost settling," "the version of me that stayed quiet," "feeling alone in a full house," "survival mode," and "unmedicated." These describe the psychological and emotional challenges I faced before choosing a path of self-awareness and healing. In my journey, I found that facing real fears—such as being silent when I needed to speak up or surviving difficult situations—was far more intense than any horror movie. Acknowledging these experiences helped me grow and ultimately placed me on a path of self-growth and acceptance. Soft life embraces mindfulness, emotional freedom, and the courage to change one’s narrative. While horror movies once sparked adrenaline and excitement, my true transformation came from looking inward and addressing the internal "horrors" that shaped me. For anyone who feels overwhelmed or haunted by their past, it can be empowering to see those experiences as part of your unique story rather than something to fear. Shifting from external entertainment of fear to internal understanding can lead to profound healing—a before and after that changes your entire outlook on life.
