DAY 3: 75 SOFT🏓👟
My body HURTS. Partially from the yoga teacher starting the class off with abs on Monday, partially from my little bit of running last night, and partially from this being the most amount and consistent exercise I’ve had in a long hot while.
I still don’t have the ~motivation~ to work out each day, so I rely on my accountability partner (my mom😂) and just forcing myself to get changed and start a walk immediately after work before my brain has a chance to think about what’s going on.
I wasn’t super great with my eating today. I had everything pictured + a Panera lemonade and - the carrots and hummus. One of our vets treated us to Chick-fil-A breakfast so the spicy chicken biscuit was an unexpected surprise I couldn’t pass up but added on a lot of extra calories. I exceeded my calorie allotment for today but I am still proud of myself for tracking everything, it allows me to learn portion sizes and how much calories really go into these foods. It also makes me wonder how insane was the amount of calories I ate each day when I wasn’t tracking??😳

It's so relatable to feel your body protesting just a few days into a new challenge, right? My first few days of any fitness journey often involve a lot of 'ouch' moments, just like you described from that yoga class and running. What I've learned is that it's crucial for fitness enthusiasts to listen to their bodies, especially when jumping back into consistent exercise after a break. Don't be afraid to incorporate active recovery days or lighter sessions. Gentle stretching, foam rolling, or even just a slow walk (like your 2.12-mile outdoor walk!) can make a huge difference in managing those aches and preventing burnout. Remember, consistency beats intensity in the long run, and protecting your body early on is key to surviving the entire 75 Soft challenge. And oh, the motivation struggle! You hit the nail on the head – it's rarely about feeling pumped every single day. Relying on an accountability partner, like your mom, is genius! My personal trick for those days when my brain says 'no' is to make the barrier to entry as low as possible. Just getting dressed in my workout clothes, or heading out for that immediate post-work walk before I can even think, usually does the trick. Once you start, it’s rarely as bad as you imagined. Seeing my activity tracker summary, knowing I hit those 13,151 steps, always gives me a little mental boost, proving even small efforts add up to big wins. Let's talk food, because that's where many of us, myself included, often stumble. It's totally okay to have days where your eating isn't 'perfect.' Your Chick-fil-A spicy chicken biscuit confession is so honest and real. The most important takeaway, as you wisely noted, is that you tracked it. That's a huge win! Instead of asking 'is this bad?', you embraced the learning. Tracking everything, even unexpected treats or larger meals (like that tasty Chick-fil-A breakfast or dinner with pasta and garlic bread), gives you invaluable data. It teaches you about portion sizes and helps you understand the calorie density of different foods. This knowledge empowers you to make informed decisions moving forward, rather than feeling like you've failed and giving up entirely. It's not about being perfect, it's about being consistent in your effort to understand and adapt. This approach is really what helps fitness enthusiasts navigate their diet sustainably. Keep learning and growing, you're doing great on your 75 Soft journey!
