Shelf Decor for 2024 🫶🏼🏡

After taking my Christmas decor down, I couldn’t help but be a little sad as things felt empty around my house. I wasn’t sure what to add to the top of these shelves bit I knew it needed something. I didn’t want to add more “decor” since the shelves themself already had more than enough.

I went over on Instagram and posted asking my followers for some thoughts & many said different things… plants, photos, etc. but someone suggested adding these lighting figures and I instantly knew this is what these shelves needed!

The two pack were only $30 which seemed very fair to me, the package came with two lightbulbs and a remote too! You can set a timer and adjust the color of the lights. I’m totally obsessed! What do you think about them? Let me know in the comments below.

First off, let's talk about greenery. You seriously can't go wrong with adding a touch of life to your shelves. I love using small potted plants, especially ones with trailing leaves – they add such a beautiful, organic feel and instantly make a space feel more vibrant. Succulents are also fantastic for smaller spots or if you're not blessed with a green thumb! They're low-maintenance and super chic. Next, consider your books (if you have them!). Don't just stack them all vertically. Try mixing it up! Stack a few horizontally to create a base for a small decor item, or arrange them by color for a really eye-catching display. It's all about creating visual interest. For a touch of warmth and texture, woven baskets are a lifesaver. They're not just pretty; they're functional too! Perfect for hiding away remotes, blankets, or anything else you want to keep tidy but accessible. I often use them on the bottom shelves to anchor the look. And speaking of warmth, candles and candle holders are a must. I'm a big fan of amber-colored glass holders, they cast such a soft, inviting glow, especially in the evenings. You can even place a small white tray underneath a cluster of candles for a curated look, just like I've seen in some decor magazines! Don't forget personal touches. Framed photos of loved ones or unique trinkets from your travels can tell a story and make your shelves feel truly 'you.' I also adore incorporating art and sculptural pieces. Even a small geometric accent or a mini statue can add so much character and a modern edge. Look for pieces with interesting textures or shapes. Finally, think about layering. Start with your larger items, then add medium-sized pieces, and finish with smaller accents. Play with varying heights and depths to keep the eye moving. Remember, the goal isn't to fill every single space, but to create a balanced, inviting display. Sometimes, less truly is more, allowing each piece to breathe and be appreciated.
