Before & After: Living Room Inspo 🏡

Our DIY fireplace is officially done and I’m obsessed with how it turned out!

I’ve always wanted to have a fireplace and mantle in my house so I could decorate for the holidays and this house unfortunately didn’t have one, so we decided to DIY one. I’m so excited to decorate it through out the seasons, I can’t wait to hang stockings at Christmas time especially.

This room was always random furniture pieces prior and now everything looks so cute and cohesive.

Do you have a fire place in your house? Do you prefer a fireplace or a TV stand? Let me know in the comments below!

For us, the decision to embark on a DIY fireplace project stemmed from a long-held desire to have a dedicated space for holiday decorating. Our home previously lacked that cozy element, making the room feel a bit scattered with just random furniture pieces. The 'before' really highlighted how a space can lack direction, even with comfortable seating like our sectional sofa. We knew we wanted a 'before and after living room transformation' that felt truly ours. Our chosen approach involved a *DIY shiplap fireplace with an electric insert*. This was a game-changer! An electric insert is fantastic because it offers the ambiance of a fire without the need for a chimney, making it perfect for almost any home, even a townhouse living room or a small house small living room with fireplace and tv setup. We also opted to mount our TV above the fireplace, which is brilliant for saving space and creating a clean, modern look. The shiplap finish gave it that classic, yet fresh, farmhouse-inspired aesthetic we adore, instantly pulling the room together into a *cohesive look*. When planning your own home renovation before and after living room project, think about how each element contributes to the overall feel. For us, it wasn't just about the fireplace; it was about curating a space that felt intentional. Consider your existing furniture – how can you arrange it to complement the new focal point? We found that even subtle changes, like updating throw pillows or adding new wall art, made a huge difference once the fireplace was in place. The 'before after room transformation split image' in our minds became a reality by focusing on these details. One of the biggest joys of this diy home transformation is anticipating how we'll decorate the mantel through the seasons. For Christmas, I can already envision stockings hung with care and festive garlands. In the spring, fresh florals and lighter decor will bring a different charm. It's not just a functional piece; it's a canvas for creativity and a central gathering spot. If you're considering a *fireplace renovation before and after*, I highly recommend adding a personal touch through DIY. The feeling of accomplishment, combined with a beautiful, functional space, is incredibly rewarding. It truly made our living room go from an uninspired area to a favorite spot in our house, achieving that 'living room transformation final outcome' we had always dreamed of.

I like both, but I kinda liked the before better 😅 but I think it’s cause the after needs a few more warm details like the before has
