What I bought vs. How I styled: IKEA frames

I’ve been wanting to add photos of me and Mitchell into our home, but wanted it to look like “wall art” vs. actual photos.

I printed out 12x8 photos of us in black & white and found these affordable frames at IKEA for $12.99.

I searched for awhile for affordable frames and this is by far the best I've found. This was the perfect addition to our plain hallway and it’s also so special!

... Read moreWhen I first started dreaming of a gallery wall, I imagined something beautiful but also budget-friendly. Like many of you, I quickly realized that custom framing can get incredibly expensive! That's when I turned to IKEA, and honestly, I was so impressed with their picture frame selection. One of the first things you notice about IKEA frames is their fantastic price point. It’s hard to beat the value, especially when you’re looking to purchase multiple frames for a gallery wall. I found that they offer a few standard, versatile sizes that are perfect for creating cohesive arrangements, whether you're displaying 12x8 black and white photos like mine or larger art prints. And the best part? Little to no assembly required! Most frames are ready to hang right out of the packaging, which saves so much time and hassle. While I personally love the clean look of black-framed or white frames, I do sometimes wish IKEA offered a wider range of colors right off the shelf to match more unique decor styles. However, their simple designs make them incredibly easy to customize with a little spray paint if you're feeling crafty! Speaking of quality, many people wonder about the durability and overall feel of IKEA frames. From my experience, for the price, the quality is excellent for decorative purposes. They might not be solid wood, but they hold up well and look far more expensive once they're on the wall, especially as part of a thoughtful gallery wall arrangement. They’re perfect for turning personal memories and photos into stylish wall art without breaking the bank. The minimalist style of many IKEA frames means they blend seamlessly with various home decor aesthetics, making them a popular choice for homeowners and renters alike. This makes them ideal for building sophisticated wall decor without a hefty investment. If you're planning your own IKEA gallery wall, here are a few ideas and tips I've picked up. First, plan your layout on the floor before you even think about putting nails in the wall. You can use paper cutouts of your frame sizes to visualize the arrangement and ensure you love the spacing. Mix and match frame sizes, but keep a consistent element, like all black frames or all white frames, or even consistent matting, to create a harmonious look. Don't be afraid to incorporate different types of content – alongside your black and white photos, consider adding abstract art prints, typography, or even small mirrors to add texture and interest. I love how a gallery wall isn’t just about photos; it’s a curated collection that reflects your personality. For a truly unique touch, consider adding floating shelves from IKEA to display small plants or decorative accents within your gallery wall, creating a more dynamic display. These affordable frames are the perfect foundation for any home decor project, helping you create a high-impact feature wall that feels special and uniquely yours. Whether you’re aiming for a minimalist display or a vibrant collection of memories, IKEA wall frames provide the perfect canvas for your creativity, making every hallway or living space feel more like home.
