Grandma don’t like the camera 😂😂

Anyone else have a grandma who just isn't a fan of the camera? You know, the kind who instantly turns away, covers her face, or gives you that look that says, 'Put that thing away!'? My grandma is exactly like that, and honestly, it's become a running joke in our family. While we all love snapping photos to capture every precious moment, she prefers to just be in the moment, completely unfazed by the flash or the lens. I've often wondered why some grandmas have this unique aversion to cameras. Is it a generational thing? They grew up in an era where photos were a rare luxury, not an everyday occurrence. Maybe the idea of constantly documenting life feels foreign or even a bit intrusive to them. For my grandma, I think it’s a mix of a few things. She's incredibly humble and doesn't like to be the center of attention. Plus, she always says, 'The best memories are in your heart, not on a screen!' And you know what? There’s a lot of wisdom in that. It can be a little frustrating when you want to capture a beautiful family gathering or a sweet moment with her, but she just isn't having it. You learn quickly to respect her boundaries. Over the years, I've developed a few strategies to try and get those rare, precious shots without making her uncomfortable. Firstly, I’ve learned to accept that candid photos are often the best bet. When she’s engrossed in a conversation, laughing with someone, or simply enjoying a meal, sometimes I can discreetly snap a picture without her noticing. These often turn out to be the most authentic and heartwarming images, truly capturing her spirit. Secondly, I try to make it a shared experience rather than just pointing the camera at her. Sometimes, if I ask for a quick selfie with her, she's more amenable. It feels less like a formal portrait session and more like a fun, shared moment. Or, if it's a big group photo, she's usually more willing to participate, blending in with everyone else rather than being singled out. Another thing I've realized is that explaining why these photos are important to me can sometimes help. I might say, 'Grandma, I want to capture this moment so I can remember it when I'm older, and so my kids can see how wonderful you are!' Sometimes, understanding the sentimental value for us can make them a little more understanding, even if they still aren't thrilled about it. Ultimately, the most important thing is to cherish the time spent with our grandmas, whether there’s a camera involved or not. The memories we make together, the stories they tell, and the love they share are far more valuable than any picture. The photos are just a bonus, a little visual reminder of the incredible women who have shaped our lives.
