How To: Being a Good Neighbor🏡

Living in apartments has taught me a lot about what it means to be a good neighbor 🏡✨

At my last place, I had the sweetest downstairs neighbor. She welcomed me with a fall “boo basket” when I first moved in, and from there we built a little friendship. We baked for each other, made dinners, and kept an eye out for each other’s places. She even checked on my cats when I was out of town and signed for packages so nothing got stolen 🐾📦 We painted pumpkins together, shared meals, and I even helped her with her kid when she needed an extra hand.

Other neighbors before that taught me the same kind of community spirit. We’d babysit each other’s kids, share food like carne asada, sweep our shared sidewalks, and watch out for one another’s homes. Those experiences showed me how meaningful it is to have neighbors you can count on.

Where I live now, things are a lot quieter and more individual. I actually like the peace, I’m more introverted, so it fits my style. Still, I keep to the basics: being mindful of noise, taking care of my pets so they don’t disturb anyone, and keeping my space tidy. And when new neighbors move in, I like to leave a little welcome card with my apartment number so they know I’m here if they ever need something.

It doesn’t take much, but small gestures and respect go a long way toward making apartment life better for everyone ✨
