💭My review: the plot twist in this book was amazing. It’s quite long but it was still a good read. I have also read this book twice and still absolutely loved it. Plot is amazing and just everything about it is amazing. I only give it 4 stars because it was a little bit too long and took me a minute to read it but everything else was amazing.

... Read moreHey fellow book dragons! As someone who's completely fallen into the world of the Empyrean Series, I wanted to share a bit more beyond my initial reviews, especially for those of you trying to get a full picture of Rebecca Yarros's incredible saga.
First off, if you're wondering about the reading order, it's pretty straightforward: Fourth Wing kicks everything off, followed by *Iron Flame*, and then we dive into *Onyx Storm*. Each book builds on the last, so definitely read them in sequence to get the full impact of Violet Sorrengail's journey at Basgiath War College.
I've seen a lot of questions about the length of these books, and trust me, you get a lot of story! For *Fourth Wing*, I've heard estimates usually put it around 180,000 to 200,000 words. Iron Flame is even heftier, often cited as being over 200,000 words, reflecting the expanded world and escalating conflicts. These aren't quick reads, but every word is packed with action, romance, and incredible world-building. For *Onyx Storm*, which is the latest entry, I'm expecting a similar epic length, guaranteeing plenty of hours lost in those pages!
Speaking of Basgiath War College, it's such a pivotal setting. It’s not just a backdrop; it's a character in itself. The brutal training, the cutthroat competition, and the constant threat of death truly shape Violet and her fellow dragon riders. For anyone looking for a summary of the Bloodwing Academy experience (the fighting division at Basgiath), imagine Hogwarts meets Hunger Games with dragons. The stakes are incredibly high, and the bonds forged there are intense, whether they're friendships, rivalries, or forbidden romances. It's truly a place where only the strongest survive, and it's fascinating to see how Violet, initially perceived as weak, thrives.
And for those already devouring Onyx Storm or waiting for it, like me, the anticipation for Rebecca Yarros's book 4 in the Empyrean Series is already building! Knowing her writing, I'm sure it'll continue to unravel more mysteries, deepen the political intrigue, and bring even more breathtaking dragon battles. This series truly keeps you on the edge of your seat, and I can't wait to see what she has in store for us next!
