Things I love... but stopped doing

These are a few things that makes my soul smile from the inside out but for some reason I stopped making these things a priority for me. But lately... I've been making my way back to me 🦋

READING ✨ I fell in love with reading in grade school when I realized that the words that I read could play movies in my head (thats a bar lol). No but seriously, reading became a form of escapism and well... im ready to do some escaping again.

MEDITATING ✨ These last 3 years of adulthood have been especially trying and so one would think that I would dive into my meditation practices, but nope. I chose depression and isolation instead. However, life looks different... it feels different. I feel like I can finally be still again.

JOURNALING ✨ Writing down my thoughts as a teen use to be the only way that I could make sense of the world around me. Journaling felt like a warm blanket for a very long time, until it didnt. I now realize that I stopped journaling because the words on the pages began to scare me. But you know, hindsight is always 20/20. I'm not afraid of the truth anymore in fact, I'm ready to spell it out.

POETRY ✨ With the love of writing eventually came my love for poetry. Honestly, for years poetry was the only way that I could articulate the storm inside of me. I realized that, when the storm (gained control over my disorder), so did the poetry. But now I have other things inside of me, like... sunrises and tsunamis and well... I wanna articulate those too.

... Read moreMany people experience phases where they drift away from activities that nurture their souls. Activities like reading, meditation, journaling, and poetry are not just pastimes; they are essential practices that contribute to mental and emotional well-being. Reading can transport us, offering an escape into different worlds and ideas. Recent studies highlight how reading can reduce stress levels and improve cognitive function. Similarly, meditation promotes mindfulness, helping to anchor our thoughts and emotions in a chaotic world. Journaling serves as a powerful tool for self-reflection, allowing individuals to process thoughts and feelings effectively. Research underlines the therapeutic benefits of writing as a method to enhance emotional intelligence and foster personal growth. Finally, poetry can articulate the unspoken beauty and chaos of our inner lives, serving as a creative outlet. Engaging in these activities can lead to improved self-care practices and greater overall happiness. Recommitting to these passions can profoundly impact our quality of life, making it essential to prioritize what truly resonates with us.
