For puppies who love water, a small, shallow kiddie pool can provide endless fun and a fantastic way to cool down. Watching them splash around is just the cutest! Don't forget about homemade frozen treats! Beyond store-bought dog ice cream, you can easily whip up your own. I often freeze diluted chicken broth in ice cube trays or blend some dog-safe fruits like bananas and blueberries with plain yogurt, then freeze them in small molds. These are fantastic for keeping them occupied and hydrated. It's a simple way to create more 'ICE CREAM' moments for your pup! Grooming also plays a role. Regular brushing helps remove loose undercoat, which can trap heat. For some breeds, a summer trim might be beneficial, but always consult your vet or a professional groomer first, as some double coats actually provide insulation against heat and sun. Finally, remember to keep an eye on your puppy for any signs of overheating, like excessive panting, lethargy, or weakness. If you notice these, get them into a cool space immediately and offer water. Being proactive about keeping your puppy happy in the Summer means being vigilant and creative with cooling solutions.
