I used to struggle so much with contouring! It felt like no matter what I did, it either looked muddy or too harsh. But after a lot of practice and discovering some game-changing techniques, I've finally cracked the code to achieving a natural, sculpted look. Today, I'm excited to share my absolute best tips for contour placement that will make your makeup look flawless every single time. My secret weapon? Underpainting! Seriously, if you haven't tried it, you're missing out. Applying your contour before your foundation or skin tint makes such a huge difference. It helps everything blend seamlessly and creates a more natural shadow, rather than a stripe on top of your base. As the OCR mentioned, 'under painting is so easy and makes ur makeup look flawless' – and I couldn't agree more! Let's talk cheekbones, because this is where contour really shines. For that lifted, defined look, you want to place your contour *slightly above your cheekbone*. Imagine a line from the top of your ear towards the corner of your mouth, but stop about halfway. You're aiming to create a shadow that enhances your natural bone structure, not a stripe directly in the hollows. This high placement gives the illusion of higher cheekbones, which is exactly what we're after. For a soft contour placement, remember that less is definitely more here. Next up, the jawline. A well-contoured jawline can make a huge difference in defining your face. I always apply my contour *below the jawline*, right along the bone itself. This creates a shadow that makes your jawline appear sharper and more defined. Make sure to blend it down onto your neck slightly to avoid any harsh lines. The goal is a seamless transition, giving you that 'snatched' look. Don't forget the nose! For me, a little contour on the nose can really refine the overall look. I apply a very thin line on the *sides of the nose*, starting from the inner corner of my brows and going down towards the tip. The key here is a light hand and meticulous blending. You want to create the illusion of a slimmer bridge, not two obvious lines. Remember, 'blend blend blend!' is the mantra for all contouring, but especially for the nose. Speaking of blending, this step is non-negotiable. After applying your cream contour in all the right places, grab a damp beauty sponge or a dense blending brush and gently tap and buff the product into your skin. You want to diffuse those lines until they seamlessly melt into your skin. There should be no harsh edges whatsoever. This is what truly makes your makeup look flawless. Once your contour is blended, it’s time for your base. I love going in with a *skin tint foundation on top*, as this keeps the underpainting technique effective and maintains that natural finish. Then, I follow up with my concealers in targeted areas. For product recommendations, I've found some real gems that make contouring a breeze. For contour, the e.l.f. HALO GLOW light medium is fantastic for an affordable, blendable option. For concealers, I swear by a combination of Elf and Hourglass – they offer great coverage without creasing. And for blush, which complements contour beautifully, my current favorites are from *Rare Beauty and Valentino*. Finally, for a lovely skin tint, I often reach for *True match nude 4.5-5.5*. These products, combined with the right placement, will give you that perfected, yet natural, sculpted look you've been dreaming of!
