... Read moreFeeding sourdough starters is essential for successful baking. Sourdough relies on wild yeast and bacteria, which thrive with regular feedings. Itโ€™s recommended to maintain a ratio of 1:1:1 starter to flour and water to ensure optimal fermentation. Always use high-quality flour; unbleached bread flour often yields the best results due to its higher protein content. Additionally, filtered water is ideal as it helps maintain the starter's pH balance. Keep your starter in a warm, draft-free environment, ideally around 75ยฐF to 80ยฐF, which promotes yeast activity. Be patient and observe its bubbles and aroma to determine when it's ready to use. Engaging with communities online can provide further insights and troubleshooting tips. Remember, every starter is unique, so document your process and adapt it to suit your needs.
