Labubu 💗👹
I’ve been seeing these all over my TikTok “for you” page! There’s not a PopMart store in Georgia & they’re always sold out online! The only way I could get my hands on one is to get it from a reseller ( at almost double the price ) 🤦🏽♀️
It’s cute….. but why does it look like her neck is being tickled 😂 her head is kinda slanted!!
I’m not sure if this is an authentic Labubu or not 🥹 What do you think??
Okay, so like many of you, I've been obsessed with Labubu figures from Pop Mart. They're adorable and so hard to find! My recent unboxing experience, much like the one shared in the article, really got me thinking about how difficult it is to ensure you're getting an authentic Labubu, especially when buying from resellers. It's so easy to feel like you might get scammed! After seeing so many 'for you' pages filled with these cuties, I finally caved and bought one from a reseller at almost double the price because there are no Pop Mart stores near me and they're always sold out online. But when I got it, I immediately started wondering, 'Did I get scammed?!' Just like the author, I noticed little things that made me question its authenticity. Her neck looked a bit off, and the head was kinda slanted, which made me worry if it was a genuine Labubu or one of those notorious 'Lafufu' fakes. So, based on my own experience and what I've learned from the collector community, here are some crucial tips for spotting a real Labubu and avoiding fakes, especially when dealing with resellers: Check the Packaging: Authentic Pop Mart boxes usually have high-quality printing, crisp images, and clear text. Fakes often have blurry graphics, misspellings, or flimsy box material. My box looked legit, and the QR checks out, but sometimes even that's not enough. QR Code Verification: While the author's QR code checked out, it's not always foolproof as sophisticated fakes can replicate these. Still, always scan it. It should ideally lead to the official Pop Mart website or product page. The Tag/Card: Genuine Labubu figures come with a character card. Check the quality of the cardstock, the print, and the details. Does the tag look good... I guess? Compare it to images of authentic tags online. Sometimes the texture or finish is different on fakes. Figurative Details & Paint Job: This is where the 'her neck is throwing me off' and 'I counted 9 teeth' observations become super important. Authentic Labubu figures have very clean paint lines, no smudges or bleeding, and consistent coloring. Look closely at the eyes, mouth, and any small accessories. Fakes often have sloppy paint, uneven features, or slight variations in the mold. The original Labubu figures have specific details, like the number of teeth, that counterfeits might miss. Articulation and Material Quality: Gently check if the feet turn and the arms move smoothly, as mentioned in the OCR. Authentic figures typically have good articulation and are made from a high-quality, durable PVC material. Fakes might feel lighter, cheaper, or have stiff/loose joints. The material might also have a different sheen or smell. Seller Reputation: Always buy from reputable sellers or official channels if possible. If buying from a reseller, check their reviews, ask for detailed photos from different angles (especially of problem areas like the neck or head), and if they can provide a video unboxing or proof of purchase. Be wary of prices that are too good to be true, though in our case, we paid double and still had doubts! It's a tricky world out there for collectors, and the fear of getting a 'Lafufu' instead of a beloved Labubu is real. I’d love to hear your experiences too. What are your go-to authenticity checks when you get a new Pop Mart figure?
