Asylum (The Protectors Book 1)

Asylum has devoted his life to his wife and stepdaughter and to the safehouses and protection he provides the city of Memphis. When his wife disappears without a trace, leaving signed divorce papers and her daughter behind, Asylum’s world is tilted on its axis. But he barely has time to process it when he hears that his first love is in trouble. He runs to the rescue just in time to save Dauterive's life. The love is still there, but can they make it work again with her fresh out of a bad marriage and his wife in the wind?

I enjoyed this book. Doe and Sy are so cute together when reuniting; it is like no time is lost. The way they both acknowledged past mistakes and effortlessly made it work this time around was heartwarming. I like how they show Sy's emotional side. I like the relationship he has with his daughter. True is very mature for her age. She is intelligent and also very polite. She says Yes, Sir, And No, Sir, you don't see kids like that anymore. Doe Dauterive Jersey is a great woman. I like that she stepped up to be that second mother for True, like their relationship.
