Juno the jelly!

I love this plush yarn so much!!! Need to go back to Michaels and find more! (Loops and Threads Soft Snuggles)

However, by the time I made this jellyfish I didn’t have enough for the tentacles/stingers. So technically it’s unfinished, or you could call it an octopus. 🐙 🪼

... Read moreWhen I first chose Loops and Threads Soft Snuggles yarn for my crochet project, I was drawn to its ultra-soft texture, which makes plush toys incredibly cuddly and perfect for amigurumi like jellyfish or octopus. One thing I learned is that this yarn is best worked with slightly larger hooks to maintain softness and avoid tight stitches that can make the toy stiff. In the case of my jellyfish project, I unfortunately ran out of yarn before completing the tentacles, which are key for the signature look. This happens more often than you think when making amigurumi because the soft yarn has a bulky weight and uses more material. As a result, you might consider purchasing extra skeins upfront, especially if your pattern calls for a lot of details like tendrils or stingers. Alternatively, if you don't have enough yarn left for the tentacles, you can use imagination and creativity to adapt your project! For instance, leaving the tentacles off turns your jellyfish into a cute octopus-like plush, which is just as charming and can appeal to different tastes. This experience taught me that crochet projects are flexible and personal — unfinished doesn’t mean failed, it just means uniquely yours. If you want to expand your handmade crochet toys collection, I suggest trying similar yarns in this category. Michaels often stocks a variety of plush yarns not only from Loops and Threads but other brands as well, sometimes mixing textures for different effects. Playing with color combinations can also make your crochet sea creatures stand out! Overall, working with this kind of plush yarn brings a satisfying softness and warmth to your finished product. Whether you make jellyfish, octopuses, or other creatures, the key to success is to plan your yarn quantity wisely and embrace creative adaptations if you run short. Happy crocheting!
