... Read moreHey everyone! We all know college life can be a whirlwind, and sometimes, getting a good night's sleep feels impossible, especially in a dorm. My original post showed you a glimpse of my personal GRWM (Get Ready With Me) for bed, but I wanted to dive a bit deeper into how you can create your own effective and realistic night routine, even with a busy schedule and limited space.
First off, creating a peaceful atmosphere is key. My little dorm room bed, complete with a cozy cow print blanket and those magical string lights, really helps set the mood. Even if your room isn't huge, little touches like string lights, a small lamp instead of harsh overhead lighting, or even just making your bed in the morning can make a big difference. I've found that having a humidifier running helps immensely, especially during drier months, making my space feel more comfortable for sleep. If you're struggling with noise, consider a white noise machine or even just a fan. These small changes can transform your dorm from a study zone to a sleep sanctuary.
Next, let’s talk about winding down. My routine often starts around 8:30 PM, especially when I have early training at 8 AM the next day. This means I need to start signaling to my body that it's time to switch off. Putting away my backpack and getting my outfit ready for the next day helps clear my mind of any lingering tasks. Before I even think about PJs, I try to tackle any last-minute things, like making a quick Lemon8 post or just tidying up my desk. Then, it's time for PJs! I always choose something super comfy – a soft t-shirt and sweats are my go-to. It’s a simple act, but changing into sleepwear really helps separate the day from the night.
Digital detox is a big one. I try to put my phone down at least 30 minutes before I want to be asleep. Instead, I might read a physical book (there's an alarm clock resting on a stack of books on my nightstand, reminding me to keep up with my reading!), do some light stretching, or even just journal for a few minutes. Brushing my teeth is a non-negotiable step – I use a good blue toothbrush and toothpaste, making sure I take my time. This simple act of self-care is surprisingly grounding. Finally, before I hit the hay, I make sure my alarm clock is set and my blinds are closed to block out any morning light. It's about setting yourself up for success the next day. Having a consistent routine, even a simple one, can significantly improve your sleep quality and help you feel more rested and ready to tackle college life head-on. Sweet dreams, everyone!
