Chipotle Style Steak
We’ve been eating a lot of steak so I had to think of a way to switch up the flavors.
I marinated this steak in chipotle pepper marinade and cooked rice, black beans, and corn as a side.
Definitely one of my new favorite ways to cook steak!
I'm so glad I stumbled upon this chipotle steak idea! If you're like me, always looking for ways to spice up dinner, then this is definitely one to add to your rotation. When I first started making these *chipotle steak pieces*, I quickly realized the secret is really in the marinade and how you prepare the steak. First off, let's talk about the steak itself. For that perfect 'Chipotle-style' bite, I've found that flank steak or skirt steak work wonders. They're thinner cuts, which means they absorb the marinade beautifully and cook quickly. Sirloin can also be a great option if you prefer something a bit meatier. The key is to slice against the grain after cooking for maximum tenderness. But if you're aiming for those classic small steak pieces for tacos or bowls, you can even slice them thinly before marinating, just be careful not to overcook them. I usually trim off any excess fat beforehand to ensure every bite is packed with pure flavor. Now, for the star of the show: the chipotle pepper marinade! My go-to always includes chipotle peppers in adobo sauce. These little peppers bring an incredible smoky heat that you just can't replicate. I usually blend a few peppers with some of the adobo sauce, fresh lime juice (a must!), minced garlic, a splash of orange juice (for a little sweetness and tenderizing), cumin, oregano, and a touch of olive oil. Don't be shy with the lime – it really brightens up the flavors and helps tenderize the meat. For optimal flavor infusion, I try to marinate the steak for at least 2-4 hours, but honestly, overnight is even better if you have the time. That long soak really ensures every steak piece is bursting with that signature smoky, zesty flavor. When it comes to cooking, I love a good cast-iron skillet for these *chipotle steak pieces*. Get it screaming hot with a little oil, and then sear your marinated steak for just 2-3 minutes per side, depending on the thickness and your desired doneness. You want a beautiful crust on the outside and a juicy, tender interior. If I'm making a larger batch or want less cleanup, sometimes I'll use a baking sheet and broil them briefly. Grilling is also fantastic, especially if you want that extra char. And oh, the serving possibilities! While rice and black beans are a classic pairing, these chipotle steak pieces are so versatile. I’ve used them to make incredible homemade burrito bowls with fresh salsa, guacamole, and a dollop of sour cream. They're also perfect for street-style tacos, wrapped in warm corn tortillas with chopped onion, cilantro, and a squeeze of lime. Sometimes, I even toss them into a vibrant salad for a quick, healthy lunch. It's truly amazing how one simple recipe can open up so many delicious meal options. If you're looking for an easy weeknight meal that tastes like you spent hours in the kitchen, this is it! I promise, your taste buds will thank you.
