Love is obedience, not convenience.
Through my own journey, I've come to realize that love rooted in obedience requires intentional effort and daily surrender. The verse 1 Corinthians 13:4 reminds us that love is patient and kind—it doesn’t envy or boast, nor is it proud. This means that love often calls us to put aside our own comfort, pride, or desire for immediate gratification. One personal challenge I’ve faced is loving when I feel misunderstood or unappreciated. It’s easy to become guarded or withdraw, but learning to love like Jesus means pushing past these feelings and continuing to give grace freely. I often pray for a softened heart and the strength to love without keeping score, as the OCR text from the images beautifully captures. This kind of love isn't always convenient; it asks us to persevere even when love feels one-sided or costly. But I’ve noticed that when I choose obedience to God’s call to love, my relationships deepen and transform. Patience allows space for growth, kindness breaks down barriers, and humility keeps pride in check. In practical terms, this means being mindful in daily interactions—listening without judgment, offering forgiveness quickly, and showing up consistently for those I care about. These small acts build a foundation of steadfast love that reflects God’s love for us. If you, too, struggle with loving as God asks, remember that love is a heart work. It’s a journey of both surrender and strength, and with prayer, we can learn to love without conditions, as He taught us.
