Intimate ROM venues
From the start, we knew we wanted a chinese restaurant for the 11 pax since both sides' families are more into chinese cuisines than western. We also discussed a list of wants before researching and shortlisting which makes it so much easier.
What we wanted:
- Chinese restaurant private room
- Round table
- Accessible for all (ie. not those in Sentosa or whatever)
- A room big enough for ROM + tea ceremony + lunch + ideally walk in for the bride
- Ideally with window so you can some sunlight or even views
With that, we have shortlisted a few restaurants and arranged for site visits on 20 Sep 2025:
1. Jade Restaurant - NN has tried the food there before and quite like it. She also likes the colour of the restaurant (more of turquoise). However the private room will be just nice for 11pax and will be a little squeezy for ROM and etc. Also, not sure why, it has windows (no views) but the room was kinda dark and TT doesn't like the atmosphere. That being said, there wasn't space for the bride to do walk in as well.
2. Summer Pavilion - The room has mirrors all over the whole room which both of us didn't like it. Imagine your photographers are taking photos of you but in the photos, you can see your photographer in the mirror LOLLLL. The menu wasn't cheap as well.
3. Peach Blossoms - The private room for 11pax was the biggest among all that we have visited. The rooms have full room windows and could see a slight view of MBS. This room also comes with TV so you can actually play some videos/ slideshows. Menu is affordable as well. It fulfils all our wants and needs hence we went to confirm with the restaurant. No deposit was taken from us (WHY????)
5 months later, plot twist happened!!! Stay tuned to our next post!
Selecting a Chinese restaurant for a ROM (Registry of Marriages) ceremony can be quite challenging, especially when trying to accommodate specific needs such as private rooms, seating arrangements, and accessibility. From our experience, it's essential to start by listing your must-haves. We prioritized a private room with a round table that comfortably seats 11 people, suitable for the ROM ceremony, a tea ceremony, and lunch afterward. Accessibility was important – we preferred venues that were easy for all guests to reach, excluding remote or difficult locations like Sentosa. During our search, we learned that ambiance plays a vital role. For example, even though Jade Restaurant was cozy, it felt a bit cramped and dimly lit, which didn't create the celebratory atmosphere we envisioned. Summer Pavilion, while spacious, had mirrors lining the room, which could appear distracting in photos and affect privacy. On the other hand, Peach Blossoms offered generous space with natural light from full-room windows and a slight view of Marina Bay Sands, plus amenities like a TV for slideshows – features that enhanced the overall experience. An often overlooked but valuable feature is whether the venue allows the bride a dedicated walk-in space, adding a special touch to the ceremony. We found this important for smooth flow and memorable moments. Additionally, affordability and menu options matter. Peach Blossoms provided a nice balance between cost and quality, making it a practical choice. We recommend scheduling site visits where possible to get a true feel of each venue and visualize how your event will unfold there. Throughout our planning, we also realized the importance of clear communication with the restaurant regarding deposits and booking policies to avoid surprises. In conclusion, choosing the right Chinese restaurant for a ROM ceremony involves more than just picking a place to eat – it's about finding a venue that supports all aspects of your special day, from ceremony to celebration, within your budget and desired vibe.
