Why I wear Hijab

Before studying Islam or coming to it, I wrapped my head. A lot. Not like hijab but more like a turban. I’ve been doing it for years. I’ve always said I felt more pretty, confident and connected with my head wrapped. When I started studying wearing hijab wasn’t even a question. Yes, absolutely & im never taking it off. 😂

I had been visiting the masjid for jummah before the day I did shahada. Of course you must cover for prayer so I already had my head wrapped. After I took shahada the ladies showed me how to do it properly by covering the chest & neck. I’ve been wearing it everyday since.

When I took shahada I was 28 (currently 29). My biggest struggle before covering was my need to be lusted over & overly sexualized. I felt like showing my body in near nakedness was the only way to get attention. I used to feel so low when I didn’t have someone, anyone, wanting me in that way. Now you would think covering would be very difficult considering how bad I felt like I needed that. Instead I took it as a challenge. I showed up for myself in a way I hadn’t before. I covered although it was difficult to prove to myself that I didn’t need any of that. To prove to myself that I’m more than my body. And THAT is ultimately the power of the hijab. Yes, I wear my hijab for the sake of Allah (swt) but I also wear my hijab for me. What others may see as just a piece of cloth, I see as my strength and power. This “piece of cloth” is my protection, my reassurance and my freedom.

Are you struggling with covering? Tell me why.#lemon8diary #dayinmylife #muslimlemon8 #hijabi #muslimah #muslimwomen

... Read moreIt's truly inspiring to hear personal journeys to hijab, and mine resonates so much with finding inner strength. Beyond the profound spiritual connection and empowerment I feel, I've also discovered a whole world of how hijab can be a beautiful expression of personal style and modesty. Many people ask me about styling, and trust me, embracing hijab doesn't mean compromising on looking chic or feeling confident! When it comes to modest fashion, the hijab is truly a versatile piece. For everyday elegance, I often opt for soft, breathable fabrics like modal or jersey in classic shades. But for a touch of vibrancy, a muted pink hijab can instantly brighten up an outfit, especially when paired with neutral tones. I love experimenting with different drapes—sometimes a simple, clean wrap, and other times a more flowing style that offers extra coverage. It’s all about what makes you feel comfortable and beautiful. And let's talk about accessorizing! While the focus is on modesty, a subtle touch of jewellery can really elevate your hijab style. Think delicate necklaces that peek out from a draped hijab, or elegant earrings that frame your face. I always feel that these small details contribute to an elegant, classy, stylish muslimah fashion look without being over-the-top. For instance, pairing a black abaya (like the one in the photo!) with a statement necklace or a contrasting scarf can create such a sophisticated vibe. Being a black hijabi myself, I find immense power in choosing my outfits consciously. It's not just about covering; it's about presenting myself in a way that reflects my values and personality. There's an incredible sense of freedom in knowing that my style is my own choice, and it's a reflection of my inner self, not external pressures. This is part of the empowering stories of women through hijab fashion that we often hear. For those interested in capturing their hijab portrait modest fashion or even just daily hijabpov looks for social media, remember that confidence is your best accessory! Find good lighting, experiment with angles, and let your personality shine through. Whether you prefer a minimalist aesthetic or love to play with colors and textures, the most important thing is to feel joyful and authentic in your choices. Wearing hijab is a journey of self-discovery, and part of that journey is learning to express your unique beauty within the boundaries of modesty.

A flat lay image featuring a beige hoodie, grey sweatpants, a cream canvas tote bag, and cream ribbed socks. Overlay text states 'What You Wear AFFECTS YOUR NERVOUS SYSTEM' and lists benefits of soft, loose clothing: lower cortisol, reduced sensory overload, feeling safer, and anxiety regulation.
What You Wear Affects Your Nervous System
Your nervous system is always listening, even to what you’re wearing 🤍 Soft, loose clothing can quietly tell your body that it’s safe. Less tension. Less overload. More ease. This is why some days a hoodie + comfy pants feels better than anything else. It’s not laziness. It’s regulation.

Why are we forced to wear this?
I’ll never get why girls’ swimsuits are basically glorified underwear while guys get to rock what’s essentially shorts. It’s so unfair, no matter what I pick, I end up feeling exposed like I’m not fully dressed. Bikinis are just bras and undies with a fancy name and the last thing I want is to

Here’s why you shouldn’t wear nails past 2 weeks..
Press-ons are amazing—but wearing them longer than 2 weeks can actually do more harm than good. As time goes on, adhesive starts to break down, moisture can get trapped, and extra pressure from nail growth puts stress on your natural nail plate. This can lead to peeling, thinning, irritation, and e
