Sisterly Reminder 🌸
As-salaamu ‘alaykum!
I’m posting this to hopefully offer some encouragement InshaAllah. I know it’s difficult living in the dunya when you’re striving in deen. There are sooo many struggles and hardships we face on a daily basis. As a revert one of the hardships I see and hear a lot about is comparing. Comparing yourself to others or comparing what you have to what you don’t have. Now I don’t believe this is limited to just us Muslims, let me make that clear. We all scroll on social media and have the urge to wish for that particular life or car or house or marriage etc. the feeling of envy or jealousy is normal. It’s what comes after it and how it sits in our hearts that matters most. As Muslims we are taught to want for others as we want for ourselves. When we see nice things we say MashaAllah!
I say all that to say, comparing yourself or your lifestyle isn’t good for your mental health. Whenever you find yourself feeling down about the things you haven’t accomplished or the things you don’t have or anything like that. Think of these quotes straight from the Quran itself. And remember to do your salat. Recite surah An-Naas and Say this dua “ Oh Allah, clean my heart of every form of bitterness, hard feelings, and jealousy”.
If you’re reading this and you’re not Muslim, I want you to remember that what is written for you will never pass you. You didn’t miss an opportunity, it just simply wasn’t your time. Sometimes we have things we need to learn first before getting the things we are asking or praying for.
“If all the tress on earth become pens, and the sea replenished by seven more seas were to supply them with ink, the words of Allah would not be exhausted.” 31: 27
“ Allah is the best of providers” 62:11
“Allah does not burden a soul beyond what it can bear” 2:286
“ Be patient. Indeed, the promise of Allah is truth.” 30:60
“When you see a person who has been given more than you in money and beauty, look to those, who have been given less.” The Prophet Muhammad pbuh reported by Muslim Hadeeth

As we navigate through life's challenges, it's essential to remind ourselves that the journey is unique for each individual. Feeling envy or comparing ourselves to others is natural, especially in a world filled with curated lives on social media. However, embracing our path and recognizing that what is meant for us will come at the right time can lead to profound peace. Consider reflecting on the wisdom found in the Quran, which provides comforting reminders that Allah is always with us. For instance, the verse "Allah does not burden a soul beyond what it can bear" (2:286) serves as a powerful reminder that our struggles are designed to help us grow and develop resilience. It is also crucial to practice gratitude regularly; counting our blessings helps shift our mindset away from what we lack toward appreciating what we have. Simple acts of acknowledging the good in our lives can significantly enhance mental well-being. Moreover, consider engaging in community support, as connecting with others who share similar beliefs and experiences can foster a sense of belonging and understanding. Ultimately, the journey of self-acceptance is often assisted through prayer, reflection, and gratitude. So, the next time you find yourself feeling down of what you haven’t achieved yet, remember these practices and Quranic teachings, which encourage you to remain patient and hopeful. The promise of Allah is indeed the truth, and by embracing patience and gratitude, we can cultivate a healthier mindset.
