Two months has flown by! Look at my babies! #highfunctioningdepression #ppd #fightingthroughthepain
Becoming a new parent while coping with mental health challenges like high-functioning depression and postpartum depression (PPD) is a unique and difficult journey. During my first two months, I’ve learned that acknowledging these feelings openly can be incredibly healing. It’s important to remember that even if you look fine on the outside, the internal battles are valid and deserve attention. One thing that helped me tremendously was establishing a daily routine that balances care for my babies with self-care. Small actions like taking a walk, practicing mindfulness, or simply asking for help when overwhelmed have been pivotal in maintaining my wellbeing. Connecting with online communities and using hashtags such as #highfunctioningdepression, #ppd, and #fightingthroughthepain made me feel less isolated and more empowered. It’s also crucial to communicate openly with your support system about your needs. Whether it’s partners, family, or healthcare professionals, sharing your struggles fosters understanding and can lead to valuable assistance or treatment options. Motherhood feels like a rollercoaster filled with emotional highs and lows, but with perseverance and the right support, it becomes a rewarding experience. For others walking this path, my advice is to be gentle with yourself. Celebrate every small victory and accept that setbacks don’t define your strength or love as a parent. Remember, you are not alone on this journey, and seeking help is a sign of courage and resilience. Together, through sharing our stories, we can create a supportive community where healing is possible.
