Girls should be selfish in life

I have for the most part of my life always thought about what my parents think or folks think or what someone wilk say or think about what I am doing or how i am living. Now? I am only thinking of what makes me have happiness and what God says on that day I meet him🤨. Everything else is for the birds. So be a little selfish, live life to the fullest and realize that no human has a heaven or hell to put you in so be a little selfish. If you want to move to Greece and know no one? Do it? Want to buy a house with 3 bedrooms and it's only you in the dang thing? Do it. As long as it's not hurting anyone directly-get to it and enjoy it. Don't be on your deathbed saying "I coulda, woulda, shoulda". The first photo is me now. Second photo was me trying to be everything for everyone who wouldn't do for me. The last was right after I had my last son. I was dealing with PPD like a mofo not I still was taught to smile so I did. Som much joy where I am now🥹 #lemon8contest #AskLemon8 #DC #blackgirllemon8 #selfimprovment

This mindset can lead to feelings of emptiness, regret, and burnout. Embracing healthy selfishness doesn't mean being selfish in a harmful or neglectful way, but rather valuing your own happiness and well-being as essential priorities. It's important to differentiate between selfishness that hurts and selfishness that heals. Setting boundaries, pursuing personal goals, and making choices that bring you joy—even if they seem unconventional to others—are key aspects of healthy selfishness. For example, choosing to live alone in a new country, buying a home just for yourself, or prioritizing your mental health after struggling with postpartum depression are all powerful acts of self-love and empowerment. This shift in perspective encourages girls to stop living according to the expectations or judgments of others, whether it's family, friends, or society. Instead, focusing on what brings authentic happiness and aligns with one's values can foster greater self-confidence and personal growth. Remember, no one else holds the power to dictate your life's worth or rightful path. Sharing these stories openly helps build a supportive community where girls feel inspired to pursue their dreams without guilt. Ultimately, practicing selfishness in this mindful way helps reduce the "coulda, woulda, shoulda" regrets and leads to a more fulfilling and joyful life journey.
