Surviving the winter storm with my sanity intact✨

The weather recently in the PNW has been quite literally all over the map and insane!

Here is how I have been keeping my sanity during the cold season and the storm we have had for the past week, when I am 100% a summer girly:

✅ ROUTINE – Wake up early, work, home workout in our gym, relax and revive.

✅ CONSISTENCY – Showing up for myself every day even when I quite literally just want to snuggle up next to the fire with my pup.

✅ OPTIMISM – Finding light in each day.

✅ NO EXCUSES – Because progress doesn’t pause for the weather, or my mood. In 2025 I am determined to look and feel the best I EVER have, and with that i refuse to allow myself to make excuses anymore! So, we are doing the damn thing..

winter arch is going to make summer 10x better & it is flying by.

... Read moreHey everyone! As someone who thrives in summer, this recent winter storm in the PNW really tested my limits. I saw so many of you feeling the same, and honestly, keeping my sanity during those snowy days was a daily win. Beyond the core principles I shared, I wanted to dive a bit deeper into how I actually put them into practice and some extra tips that truly made a difference for me. First, let’s talk more about ROUTINE. It’s not just about waking up early; it’s about creating a predictable flow that gives you a sense of control when everything outside feels chaotic. For me, that meant having a non-negotiable morning ritual. Even when the snow was piling up outside and I just wanted to stay in bed, I'd make my coffee, do a quick 10-minute stretch, and then get dressed immediately, even if it was just into comfy loungewear. This small act of getting ready signaled to my brain that the day had started and it wasn't just another lazy snow day. I also found that planning my meals for the week helped immensely, reducing decision fatigue and ensuring I ate well, even when grocery runs were tricky. CONSISTENCY is the backbone of any progress, especially when motivation is scarce. I learned that consistency doesn't mean perfection. If my planned home workout felt too much, I’d tell myself, "Just 15 minutes." Often, those 15 minutes turned into 30 or 45, but even if they didn't, I still showed up. It’s about building a habit, not just hitting a specific goal every single time. I also started a 'win of the day' journal where I'd jot down one small thing I was consistent with – maybe it was drinking enough water, or just taking a few deep breaths. This helped me see progress, even on days when I felt stuck. Cultivating OPTIMISM during gloomy, snowy days can feel like an uphill battle. My trick was focusing on tiny pockets of joy. Watching the snow fall with a warm drink, taking pictures of the beautiful winter landscape (even if just from inside), or simply appreciating the warmth of my home. I also limited my news intake. While staying informed is important, constant exposure to negative news can quickly erode a positive mindset. Instead, I sought out uplifting content or spent time on hobbies that brought me genuine joy. And finally, NO EXCUSES. This one is tough, but it’s powerful. For my 2025 glow-up goals, I realized I had to shift my mindset from "I don't feel like it" to "I commit to it." This meant having a clear 'why.' My 'why' was feeling strong, energized, and ready for summer. When I felt an excuse creeping in, I’d remind myself of that 'why.' I also set up a small reward system: accomplishing a challenging task meant I could enjoy a guilt-free episode of my favorite show or a delicious, healthy snack. Beyond these, I found a few other tips crucial for keeping my sanity during the winter storm: Stay Connected (Virtually!): Even if you can't see friends in person, video calls or group chats can combat isolation. Sharing funny memes or just checking in made a huge difference. Embrace Hygge: Make your home as cozy as possible! Candles, soft blankets, warm lighting, and a good book or movie can turn a dark, cold evening into a sanctuary. Hydrate & Nourish: It’s easy to forget water when it’s cold, but proper hydration is vital for mood and energy. And don't underestimate the power of warm, comforting, yet healthy meals. Mindful Movement: If a full workout feels too much, try gentle yoga, stretching, or even just dancing to your favorite music for 15 minutes. Movement is a powerful mood booster. This winter storm was a challenge, but by proactively implementing these strategies, I genuinely felt more in control and even found beauty in the season. Remember, you're not alone in feeling the winter blues, but with a little intention, you can emerge from any storm feeling stronger and more vibrant!
