Meal prep 101 as a busy medical girly.

Meal prep can be simple and still support your goals. The key is choosing easy, high-protein, fiber-rich meals that you can mix and match throughout the week.

I work full time at a medical center and don’t want to spend a ton of money or over do my calorie intake with random meals, so I decided to run to Walmart and get a ton of meal prep containers & made two weeks worth of breakfast and lunch meals.

Tips for Easy Meal Prep:

1. Pick a few protein sources – Cook in bulk (chicken, beef, eggs, fish) and season differently for variety.

2. Choose fiber-rich sides – Roasted veggies, salads, or quick sautéed greens.

3. Keep snacks simple – Cheese, nuts, Greek yogurt, boiled eggs, or protein bars.

Meal prepping makes aligning with my goals when I am limited on time easier. I go home after work and workout for an hour or two and am starving after. This just simply helps in every way.

Start by selecting versatile ingredients such as chicken, beans, and seasonal vegetables, allowing for endless meal combinations without breaking the bank. Storing meals in portion-controlled containers not only saves time but also helps manage calorie intake. Consider preparing meals in bulk to streamline your weekly cooking routine. For instance, grill a large batch of chicken and pair it with different sides, from quinoa to green salads, offering variety without extra effort. Incorporate fiber-rich snacks such as hummus with carrot sticks or Greek yogurt topped with fruits to keep your energy levels stable during long shifts. Additionally, remember to allocate some time during your weekends for meal prep. This could mean batch cooking breakfast options like overnight oats or pre-assembling salad jars for quick lunches. With a well-structured meal prep plan, staying on track with your nutritional goals becomes achievable, even for the busiest medical practitioners.
