oral hygiene tips i wish i knew sooner 🦷🪥
1. Electric toothbrushes are amazing for cleaning teeth properly, invest in a good electric toothbrush if you can!I use the oral b pro 300 and it cleans so much plaque.
2. When using an electric toothbrush, don’t move the brush too fast. Place the brush at a 45° angle towards your gums and guide the brush slowly along all surfaces of each individual tooth.
3. To prevent bad breath, increase your water intake. Not only does water keep the body hydrated but it keeps the mouth hydrated as well. A main factor for bad breath is the mouth getting super dry and there’s no water or saliva to wipe away the bacteria causing the smell.
4. It’s okay to brush teeth before breakfast, but don’t brush immediately after breakfast. Your mouth is more acidic and you will literally brush away your enamel. Wait 15-20 mins, then brush!
5. White wine can be just as bad for your teeth as red wine — if you have a glass of wine, don’t brush immediately after because of the acidity level.
6. First floss, then oil pull, then tongue scrape, and finally brush teeth.
7. Oil pulling means to swish oil in your mouth for 5-20 mins. The benefits include: killing harmful bacteria, reducing bad breath, improve gum health…
8. Brush your teeth twice a day. Once when waking and once before going to bed, you can brush more but you don’t have to.
9. Eat some pineapple. Bromelain, which is only found in pineapple, is super good at protecting enamel.
10. Prioritize your teeth. You only get two sets and you lose the first one by the time you’re twelve. If you can only do one hygiene thing today, make it be your teeth.
I hope this list helped somebody out today! What are some oral hygiene tips you wish you learned sooner? I’d love to hear in the comments 🤍 thanks for clicking!

Oral hygiene is essential for maintaining healthy teeth and gums. It's crucial to understand that the type of toothpaste and toothbrush used can greatly affect oral health. For instance, opting for toothpaste with fluoride can help prevent cavities and strengthen tooth enamel. Additionally, the American Dental Association recommends replacing your toothbrush every three to four months or sooner if the bristles become frayed. Incorporating a mouthwash with antibacterial properties into your routine can also help reduce plaque buildup and bad breath. Moreover, regular dental check-ups are key to preventing issues like gum disease and cavities. These visits allow dental professionals to perform cleanings and identify problems early on. It’s also important to teach children about the significance of good oral hygiene habits from a young age, setting them on a path to lifelong dental health. Lastly, paying attention to diet can significantly influence oral hygiene. Foods high in sugar can contribute to tooth decay, while fruits and vegetables like apples and carrots can naturally help cleanse the teeth and stimulate gums. Integrating teeth-friendly snacks can aid in maintaining oral health between meals. With these tips in mind, everyone can work towards achieving a brighter smile and healthier mouth in the long run.
