Every summer I tried to make a list of stuff to visit and today I'm at this zoo.
My summer bucket list always includes finding new and exciting places to visit, and this year, Keystone Safari absolutely blew me away! If you're looking for an unforgettable animal encounter, this place is a must-add to your list of things to do. It's so much more than just a regular zoo; it offers a fantastic blend of experiences that truly bring you closer to wildlife. What I loved most about Keystone Safari is its unique setup. You get the best of both worlds with a dedicated Drive-Thru Safari and a separate Walk-Thru Park. We started our adventure with the drive-thru, which was such a cool way to see animals roaming freely. Imagine driving your own car through vast enclosures, spotting majestic giraffes gracefully munching on leaves, seeing herds of addax with their incredible spiraled horns, and even getting up close (but safely!) with ostriches striding across the plains. It felt like a mini-African safari right here! The animals seemed so relaxed and natural in their spacious habitats. After the drive-thru, we parked and explored the Walk-Thru Park. This section offers a more traditional zoo experience but still maintains that special interactive feel. Here, I got to see so many fascinating creatures. The crowned crane with its golden plumes was absolutely stunning, and I spent ages watching the giant tortoises slowly navigating their enclosure. It was also fun to see the playful llamas and a variety of beautiful birds. Even the smaller residents like the rabbits and elegant swans added to the charm. Each exhibit felt thoughtfully designed, giving you great views and often educational insights. When planning your visit, definitely check the official Keystone Safari website for the most up-to-date Keystone Safari hours. We found that arriving right when they open or later in the afternoon can often mean fewer crowds, giving you a more peaceful viewing experience. Plus, some animals are more active during cooler parts of the day. To make the most of your trip, I highly recommend grabbing a Keystone Safari map as soon as you arrive. It’s super helpful for navigating both the drive-thru route and planning your walk-thru path so you don't miss any of your favorite animals. There are often feeding times or special demonstrations, and the map usually highlights these. Wear comfortable shoes, especially for the walk-thru park, as there’s plenty to explore. Don’t forget your camera – you'll want to capture all those amazing close-up moments! Overall, my day at Keystone Safari was filled with wonder and excitement. It’s perfect for families, couples, or solo adventurers who just love spending time with wildlife. From the thrilling drive-thru to the engaging walk-thru, every moment was a joy. I can't wait to go back next summer!
