Cooking guiso with Spam not only enhances the flavor but also offers a protein-packed option that is quick and budget-friendly. The process starts with slicing Spam into even portions and coating them in flour and a carefully whisked egg mixture, which creates a crispy crust when fried. The base sauce is equally important. A blend of onion, red bell pepper, and ripe tomatoes creates a fresh and rich foundation. This blend is then simmered with tomato sauce, water, garlic parsley, chicken bouillon, salt, and pepper to develop a flavorful guiso base. The technique of simmering allows all the spices and ingredients to meld beautifully, enriching the taste. Adding the crispy Spam slices to the sauce at the end allows the meat to absorb the rich flavors while maintaining its crisp texture. Garnishing with chopped fresh cilantro adds a bright and fragrant finish. Serving the Spam guiso over steamed rice complements the sauce and balances the hearty flavors. This dish is perfect for budget-conscious cooks looking to create a satisfying meal under $20, as highlighted by the meal’s cost-effectiveness in the OCR text.
