Practice making baby food with me 🍉🥑🍌

Hi Mamas! I bought a baby food blender for fun just to practice making baby purées! Even though our girl won’t be eating purées until she’s about 6 months + in the future, I went ahead and did some research of my own & I thought it would be fun just to practice now since I already have the blender! I didn’t realize how much joy it would bring me just to make my first purée as a first time mom.. but this kind of thing makes me so excited to be her mama and make her food for her when that time comes!! 🥹 So fun in my opinion 💓 I can’t wait! So much to look forward to! Today I puréed steamed beats + peas! It’s actually so simple. All you have to do is steam the veggies or fruits you plan to purée, (with no additives) then add them to your blender with 2-3 tbs of breast milk, baby formula, or water. Then you either place them into a refrigerator safe container for up to 2-3 days fresh, or freeze them in a freezer safe container for up to 3 months! (Thawing out in the fridge when you’re wanting to use them)! Very simple!

There is no right or wrong when it comes to either buying your baby food OR making it, but I just personally found this super fun! I think fed is best! so whatever you find best for your baby whether it be breast milk or formula, store bought or homemade, your baby is being fed, and that’s what truly matters!

I hope this can be encouraging and helpful to any other first time mamas out there too! And I’d love to hear any suggestions in the comments as well!! Let’s connect ❤️☺️ all love to you all!

... Read moreHey mamas! Following up on my baby food practice, I wanted to share even more tips and ideas I've discovered as I prepare for our little one's solids journey. Making homemade purées has become such a joyful experience, and it's truly simpler than it seems! While I started with steamed beets and peas – which were surprisingly easy to prepare! – the world of baby purées is vast and exciting. Think about nutrient-rich options like sweet potato, butternut squash, green beans, carrots, and even fruits such as apples, pears, and ripe bananas. For many fruits, especially softer ones, steaming isn't always necessary; a ripe banana can often be mashed directly into a smooth consistency. Always ensure all ingredients are thoroughly cooked and cooled before you start blending. Remember, introducing a variety of flavors early on is key for exposing your baby to different tastes and essential nutrients. You might be wondering about the tools needed. You don't necessarily need a fancy baby food blender, though mine has been fantastic. A regular blender or even a good food processor can work just as well. The main goal, especially when starting solids, is to achieve a purée that is thin and fully blended, with absolutely no lumps to ensure easy swallowing for your little one. As your baby develops and gets used to solids, you can gradually introduce slightly thicker textures. And when it's feeding time, having a soft-tipped baby food puree spoon is a total game-changer! These spoons are gentle on delicate gums and perfectly sized for tiny mouths, making mealtime a more pleasant experience for everyone. Let's dive a little deeper into safety and storage, which are paramount when preparing homemade baby food. After blending your fresh purées, you can safely refrigerate them for 2-3 days in airtight containers. For longer-term storage, freezing is an absolute lifesaver – purées can be frozen for up to 3 months! I personally love using ice cube trays for freezing, as they create perfect, individual portion sizes. Once frozen solid, I pop them out and transfer them into freezer-safe bags for easy storage. To use, simply thaw individual portions in the refrigerator overnight or by placing the container in a warm water bath. Another crucial tip I learned is the '4-day wait rule'. When introducing any new food to your baby, offer it for four consecutive days before introducing another new one. This method helps you easily identify any potential allergies or sensitivities your baby might have. Making your own baby food gives you complete control over the ingredients, allowing you to avoid unwanted added sugars, salts, and preservatives often found in store-bought options. It's incredibly rewarding to know exactly what healthy goodness your little one is eating. And always remember that 'fed is best' mantra – whether you choose homemade purées or opt for store-bought, you're doing an amazing job nourishing your baby. This journey of introducing solids is all about nurturing, discovering new tastes, and growing together!

What kind of beers did you use? Or are those pickled beets since you’re just practicing before baby got here?
