How to embrace your body image through God’s eyes

I’m God’s kind of beautiful and you are too ⤵️

🗣️ Sis, when it comes to mental health and embracing your body image, it’s crucial to remember you’re beautifully made in God’s image.

✨ As I find my way back to the gym and start enjoying workouts again, I’m not just focusing on aesthetics but on a holistic and healthy approach to fitness.

Here’s how connecting your gym routine to spiritual discipline can transform your perspective:

✨ Strength Beyond the Surface: Each workout is not just about physical strength but building resilience and endurance that reflect our spiritual journey.

✨ Worship Through Wellness: Taking care of our body honors the temple God has given us; it’s an act of worship as much as a prayer or service.

✨ Finding Joy in Movement: Exercise releases endorphins, yes, but it also lifts our spirits in a way that aligns with the joy God wants for us.

I’m learning to see my reflection through God’s eyes—imperfect but infinitely loved and valued.

Let’s encourage each other to pursue health not just for the body, but for a vibrant, God-honoring life!

... Read moreIt's been a journey, this path of *falling back in love with my body and the gym*. I remember days when I'd look in the mirror and just pick myself apart, especially after certain life changes. It felt like my body had *transformed*, and not always in ways I welcomed. But then I started shifting my perspective, truly seeking to understand what it means to be confident in my skin not just physically, but spiritually. This isn't about chasing someone else's ideal, but embracing the unique masterpiece God created. When we talk about *how to embrace your transformed body*, it’s crucial to anchor ourselves in faith. Our bodies change – with age, with motherhood, with different seasons of life – and that’s okay. God’s love isn't conditional on our physical appearance. He sees beyond the surface, into our hearts. A verse that constantly reminds me of this truth is Psalm 139:14: "I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful, I know that full well." This isn't just a pretty saying; it's a profound declaration of our intrinsic worth. Every curve, every scar, every change is part of the story of a life wonderfully made. And then there's Genesis 1:27: "So God created mankind in his own image, in the image of God he created them; male and female he created them." We are reflections of divine artistry! The idea of our body being a temple from 1 Corinthians 6:19-20 is something I've truly leaned into. "Do you not know that your bodies are temples of the Holy Spirit, who is in you, whom you have received from God? You are not your own; you were bought at a price. Therefore honor God with your bodies." This completely changed my approach to fitness and nutrition. It's not punishment; it's *worship*. It's about caring for a precious gift, not just for aesthetics, but for a holistic lifestyle that honors God. Thinking about the concept of a new creation in Christ (2 Corinthians 5:17) also brings so much freedom. My past insecurities, my self-critical thoughts about my body – those don't define the new creation I am in Him. This spiritual renewal extends to how I view my physical self. It's about letting go of old narratives and stepping into the truth that *God made me beautiful*, period. So, how do we practically live this out? Daily Affirmations in Faith: Start your day reminding yourself of God’s truth about you. Look in the mirror and say, "I am fearfully and wonderfully made." Mindful Movement: Instead of seeing exercise as a chore, view it as an act of gratitude for the body you have. Whether it's a brisk walk, dancing, or hitting the gym, find joy in movement. Nourishment, Not Deprivation: Fuel your body with healthy foods because you love it and want to honor it, not because you're trying to shrink it. Community and Support: Surround yourself with people who uplift you and reinforce your God-given worth. Share your struggles and triumphs. Seek Spiritual Guidance: Delve into scripture and prayer when self-doubt creeps in. Let God's word be your anchor. It’s an ongoing journey, but one filled with grace and profound liberation. Embracing our bodies through God's eyes means accepting His perfect love for an imperfect, yet divinely crafted, you. It means finding strength, not just on the surface, but deep within your spirit, and living a vibrant, *God-honoring life*.
