Pray Harder, Look Deeper

Being told “I’ll pray for your soul” doesn’t scare me. What should scare us is the harm committed in God’s name—then ignored. Shadow work isn’t evil. Accountability is sacred.

... Read moreIn my own journey through spiritual deconstruction, I found that challenging long-held religious beliefs was both painful and liberating. Many of us grow up accepting doctrines without question, which can inadvertently perpetuate harm under the guise of faith. Recognizing this is the first step toward true healing. Shadow work—the process of confronting and integrating the hidden or suppressed parts of ourselves—has been transformational. It is not something evil, as some might fear, but a sacred practice of accountability. By looking deeper into the discomfort and pain caused by religious trauma, we reclaim our power and voice. An important aspect I discovered is the need to confront not only personal wounds but also the systemic harm committed in the name of religion, such as abuse, control, and violence. These are often ignored or minimized within religious communities, which can compound the trauma. Engaging with supportive communities and resources dedicated to spiritual awakening, truth-telling, and sacred feminine wisdom helped me navigate this path. They provided safe spaces to question, unlearn, and heal. Ultimately, praying harder doesn’t just mean asking for divine intervention but involves active self-reflection, holding institutions accountable, and seeking liberation from restrictive dogma. It’s about bearing witness to the full truth—including the difficult parts—and choosing a spirituality grounded in compassion, justice, and authenticity.

I wouldn’t worry about it. They just don’t know what the truth is. Willis was the first choice for Adam, according to the scriptures, which we know was written by man who wanted to control people and wanted to control. Women don’t pay them any mind.
