You Were Never Born to Be a Resource

Growing up, many of us are repeatedly told that our worth depends on how much we give to others. This societal expectation can slowly erode our sense of self and lead to chronic exhaustion. I used to believe that my value was tied to how much I could sacrifice for my family, friends, and colleagues. It was only when I consciously started to reflect on this belief that I realized it was a myth that kept me from living authentically. The idea that "women are not resources" is powerful because it challenges the ingrained mindset that we exist solely to serve or meet others' needs. This mindset disconnects us from our inner worth and often leads to burnout and resentment. For me, embracing this truth meant setting boundaries that felt radical at first but ultimately necessary for my well-being. Self-worth does not diminish even if we say "no" to additional responsibilities or stop shrinking ourselves to fit others' expectations. Recognizing this was liberating—it transformed how I view my relationships, work, and even self-care. I encourage every woman to reflect on the messages about worth they were taught growing up and to share their journey toward reclaiming their inherent value. Healing and awakening to your true self is a transformative process. It's about understanding that your value is sacred and inherent, not earned through suffering or service.
