I understand that rainbows 🌈 are caused by the specific combination of refraction, reflection and dispersion of sunlight by water droplets in the atmosphere. When sunlight enters the water droplets, it refracts (bends) and disperses (into various colors). The light reflects off of the back of the water droplets and it refracts again as it exits. This creates a spectrum of colors that we call a rainbow 🌈. For the rainbow 🌈 to be seen, the sunlight must be behind the observer and the water droplets in front of them. The angle of the sun, and water droplets, are also important.

It is because of the very specific requirements that need to occur for the rainbow 🌈 to appear, that it does not occur frequently. That being said some geographical locations, such as Hawaii, does have more favorable conditions to see them. Even then, it is something miraculous to observe and is not guaranteed to be seen on demand. Also with rainbows 🌈 being a sometimes fleeting experience, the time factor also contributes to it's rarity.

For this reason rainbows 🌈 have taken on a more mythical, and symbolic, meaning within mankind. Rainbows 🌈 symbolize hope, new beginnings and Divine promise. Stories of it date back to the Bible when Noah was gifted with a rainbow 🌈 after the flood. It serves as a reminder to find spiritual, and emotional, strength following hardship. In addition to recognize the hope, new beginnings and Divine promise from the experience. This bridge between realms offers joy, peace and beauty following a storm.

You, yourself, can attest to how rare the phenomena is. In one year alone how many times has it rained during the day? How many of those times has it rained did you see one appear naturally? Yes, rainbows 🌈 can also appear with crystal prisms, more "on demand" and without the presence of water. But how many times have you experienced a rainbow 🌈 from a fountain, a sprinkler, a waterfall, or other non rain phenomenon which combines that specific combination of light and water droplets.

I saw this yesterday for the first time in five years. Prior to this, the elements were never perfectly aligned. I have passed by this fountain, often daily, with never seeing even a micro glimpse of a rainbow 🌈 Therefore when I noticed this yesterday, I actually pulled over to watch it. I understood the rarity of rainbows 🌈 especially one of this significant stature. Last rainbow 🌈 phenomena this mystical that I saw was a decade ago driving through Delaware's flat farmlands. That trip I saw a succession of five rainbows 🌈 (all same size, vibrancy, all about twelve feet apart from one another) in a perfect row not far from me in the fields on the driver's side of the car. That time too I was in such awe I pulled over to take pictures.

But yesterday when I pulled over, instead of taking in for a few moments (and pictures) I took the opportunity to sit and observe. I sat watching the rainbow 🌈 for an hour. It was still going strong 💪 when I finally did leave to go home. But for that hour, I enjoyed nature's beautiful message of hope, new beginnings and Divine Promise. The rainbow 🌈 did not stand still. It danced 💃 🕺 with the movement of the fountain ⛲️. It went from being long, tall, rectangles to squat triangles, to everything inbetween. My everyday existence is predominantly peaceful (even in the middle of storms), but for that hour I had a new found deep richness of peace, hope, and immense gratitude to the Divine.

Plus I was grateful for the experience. To think, this was a route I traveled multiple times daily, and I do look at the fountains when I pass normally. But what if I hadn't paid attention to my surroundings? What if I rushed through life, not allowing myself the experience? It made me ponder how many times that we race through life distracted, completely missing the messages, and beauty, right before us.

I did capture (for my moment of peace videos) short videos of the rainbows 🌈 dancing🕺 💃 yesterday. I will share at least one this coming week. Enjoy your miracles that greet you in your path today.
